Variable throttle response

Forgive me if this is common knowledge in the leaf motor reuse world but it occurred to me that a variable response throttle might be handy given I am converting a 4x4, I am keeping the transmission and therefore the stock low range box.
But presumably with low end torque of an electric motor I don't really need the low range gears I just need a way to make the throttle less responsive?
Make sense?

At least with the Thunderstruck VCU, you can configure the throttle response curve. For example, you could have the first half of the pedal travel provide maybe 20% of the available torque, and then have the last half ramp up to full torque. This would give you fine control for crawling while still allowing full power. You can set a few points on the throttle curve to tune to your goals.

if you use a drop in openinverter board, you can map the throttle in the web interface
