Can I ask what you sent in with your v5? Now that I have my MOT, I'm about to start this process.

-Normal V5 filled out with the correct info
-Ebay order showing purchase of the motor
-Some photos of the car, and motor installed
-A letter on headed paper from a newly formed specialist vehicle conversion company which carried out the conversion , briefly outlining the conversion and states that there are no significant changes to body, chassis, steering / suspension (there aren't)
-A letter stating that the conversion has been carried out to a good standard from an engineer.

No videos in action at the moment, sorry.
0 - 60 time 4.28 secs, adding batteries at the moment to achieve sub 4 secs... madness prevails

V5 arrived in the post this morning.
Pleased it's still listed as historic vehicle.

Great to see a boxster conversion on here. Im very new to ev conversions and i wouldnt no where to start myself but do you or anyone you know on here do custom EV or Hybrid conversion work on the likes of Porsche, Bentley or Aston Martin?

Im looking at buying myself a sports car but i run an EV charge-point installation business so i need to be practicing what i preach!:-)

I just wanted to resuscitate this thread, because I am having trouble getting a quote for my VX220 conversion. My experience so far:

Adrian Flux: Seemed interested, took my details and said they'd get back to me with a quote. Never got back to me. Followed up twice, on both occasions was told they'd check and get back to me, but have still not done so :'(

Keith Michaels: Cannot cover my specific vehicle, it's not clear why not

Brentacre Insurance: Do not cover any EVs

Keith Michaels said they might be able to cover you if you said I'd referred you, no idea why that would make a difference.

Thanks, I remembered you'd said that, but I emailed again earlier today, and while I didn't mention you explicitly (because I actually couldn't remember your name), he made it clear there was nothing he could do to help

damn, how close are you to needing insurance? Surprised about adrian flux been awkward.

Probably not *that* close. it's hard to assess how much more work is needed, but probably more than I realise yet! My goal is to be on the road by the end of August.

I tried *lots* of places and AF was the only option for me in the end. I'm afraid it may just need persistence with then. But it's very unlike them not to respond in my experience.

Phoned A Plan, Thatcham, sorry nope.... However my colleague who is insured with them for Roadster ICE was quoted for an SDU conversion ??? !!

I phoned AF again and this time I got covered! The scheme is listed as "ERS - 7235 RB Scheme EDI". £500.

It's due to start on 1st June, so I'd better get moving with the project!

Phoned Adrian Flux today to get a price on the MG. Just said it was a modified MG F to start with and specified electric motor when they asked about details. They didn't seem that phased by it. Didn't ask about power output of the motor etc. What they did ask about felt like more the phone operator having an interest in it.

Got quoted £600 initially then it went down to £540 when I said that was kind of on the high side of my expectations so they checked with a different underwriter.

Ah, to live in a decent postcode for insurance. Seems fairly decent to me, but then I'm paying £1500!

I know most of us in the UK are with Adrian Flux and they're pretty decent. But it made me nervous not having any options and competition in the market has to be a good thing.

Which is why I've been speaking to Lancaster Insurance and they are now up for insuring DIY EVs. I can't guarantee they will be cheaper than AF, but very pleased to have an alternative out there.

They are still setting up the inbound line for new enquiries. This will have its own dedicated process for assessing DIY projects. She can take you through the process.

word of warning for anyone using Adrian flux, check your renewal carefully, I allowed them to renew my policy and have now discovered that where the old policy detailed the electric conversion including the parts used the new policy only states non standard engine with an engine size of 0! now i will need to wait for them to get in touch with me to know where i stand, probably having to pay them more money.
