P.S.Mangelsdorf wrote: Sat Dec 11, 2021 7:34 pm Alright so I've got my PCS wired up and no luck yet. Question: Do I need to change the PIN setting, and if so where do I find what my PCS needs?
Do you use software from Johu or Damien?

Have you followed the pinout in pdf at page one of this thread? I did my work on an original batterypack so i got the original cable with markings on each line.

Seems like the US and EU version got the same pinout.
Yes I have the correct wiring.

I'm not referring to the pinout. In the web interface, under the Version heading, there is a setting labeled PIN with a string of numbers. Does that setting need to be changed for each PCS?
Yes, if you bought the complete kit with software from Damien the PIN should be there but if you need a pin you buy it from Johu at openinverter.org...

The pin is just for the activation of the software, nothing to do with pcs, when I first started my controller the code was 8 numbers with comma. Then I got a new updated firmware.
Regardless it should work 5min without pin.

We still have some month of work left before it will work flawlessly i think.

Yeah, I bought the full kit.

I've got a US version. What should I be checking to get it working?

When I got my pcs controller it did not work very well.
The dcdc worked when battery was fully charged but all the values was wrong, got a new firmware update then everything failed. Now 8 month later after many trial and error the pcs controller almost works, the charger won't start.

When I turn ignition on, then after my LDU is started and contractors closed. Ldu sends "inverter active" via can to my ecu then the relay enable 12v to input 1 at pcs controller.

Dcdc starts but the charger is still dead, some problem with bms messages i think.

I'm trying to use the PCS essentially standalone, not looped in with other systems' CAN.

I'll get some screen shots of settings and spot values this morning.

Okay, same as me, just controller enable via input nr1, dont think there is something in the software to control precharge, therefore i connected my pcs hvdc parallel to engine inverter.

So here's what I have verified:
- HV is being supplied to the charger, after 12V and via a ZEVA precharge
- 12V is being supplied to the charger
- There are copious grounds - The charge port ground is connected to the case and the control board, the 12V ground is connected to the case, board, and plugs

The only potential install issue is the comms port to the PCS, I hate those little pins and I'm going to try rebuilding the harness today to make certain everything is connecting properly, but I'm fairly certain it is correct.

The captures attached to this post are without the charge cable plugged in.

It would appear to me that the board and PCS are not talking. Is that a correct diagnosis?

That's also how my web interface looks when it's not "enable"

As fast as i "enable" via input 1, all readings came up and the "Opmode" turns to run.

Attached picture from pcs enable.

Ok this may be what I'm missing: Do I need to apply 12V to input 1? I hadn't seen that documented anywhere.

Right now the undesignated "input"s and "output"s are not wired to anything on my setup.

Yes, I did not find any documents, just trial and error when I came up to 12v at input 1 enable pcs controller

Great, I will try that and see if that works.

Ok input 1 helped, but still not quite there.

Its now entering run mode, but new weird-ness. When the car is plugged in, the charger report the correct voltage from the HV side (approx 317) but when it is not, its only reporting 25ish volts.

Its telling my evse to deliver power, but not drawing any amps.

Also dc-dc is not coming up at all.

Does input 2 need to be connected somewhere?

Input 2 is currently unused. Have you set model to "US" ?

edit: cablelim reports as 0, why is that?

Yes model is set to US.

Not sure why it did that time, I just retried twice and it showed 40, but no change in behavior.

Right after plugging in I get a whine from the charger (clarification) the PCS for about 5 seconds then quiet.

Before we fixed the multiplexing error i also got very high acvoltage, and the uhv(dcvolt) switch between low and high voltage.

All this is solved in the last file Johu created, exactly the same issues that i got before:) (not yet officially released due to its not yet ready and fully working...)

When the whine is about 5seconds the pcs controller did my pcs not get the right values.

I can not start my dcdc alone if i chose type1 or type2. When I chose manual mode, i start the dcdc with input 1.

You will not have that before the new firmvare

Two questions: could you or Johannes share the new firmware?

What is different in that firmware from the version Damien is using successfully, which I assume is what he installed on mine before shipping it to me?

I tested with the new (unreleased) 1.03 firmware today.

This update fixed the bouncing around of the reported HV, but did not get the DC-DC or charging to function. Snips below of parameters, spot unplugged, and spot plugged in.

Any thoughts?

Try this one, it has a slightly modified 0x21d message (byte 0 is 5d instead of 2d). Will certainly NOT work for the EU version

So after the update the version # did not change from 1.03, is that correct?

No luck getting dc-dc or charging

Yes, I didn't update the version, guess I should have.

I really don't know what to do here as I only coded what had been reverse-engineered. I'm not sure which platform this would run at: https://github.com/damienmaguire/Tesla- ... r/Software . It's basically the open source version based on Arduino.

If anyone can do CAN logs in situ that would help

Possibly a dumb question, but I don't recall: is it possible to log from the web interface?
