Hi everyone,

just want to announce that I'm away from office June 5th till July 7th. So if you order anything in the shop you'll have to wait until I'm back to get it.

Destination (as always ;) ) : Norway and Sweden

And I'm back a few days early actually. It was just too rainy and stormy the last few days while sun was shining back home.

I also made the trip to Varberg to visit Mr. "langoo" which was fun :) I learned quite a bit and now can't wait to try it out!

Will look over the forum now :)

Just good to meet you Johannes! Now start testing the 5kHz on your inverter :)

Yes it was a fun trip. Heres the proof ;)

Needless to say the return train was 20 minutes late also but you were already gone when I found out.

This year was Tour de openinverter, here I sit on Pers back porch. Unfortunately he was in Croatia (by train!) looking at Rimac :)

I guess you need to build a TIG welder now ;)

Nice picture from the porch.....

Lately I figured I rather use Mig. TIG is so much a hassle with all preparation almost like a lab.
I do think my idea of charge pump would lend itself to TIG welding naturally. Hm... Lift start and SC protection integrated... Even battery welding or spot welding.

I have a friend whose inverter welder blew up. he said i can have it. I can get hold of it, send you pictures and put your future board in it if you like sometime down the track.

Thought I'd just extend this thread: I will be hiking in the Alps until August 3rd and the only comm device I'll have on me is a Sony Ericsson K530i :) See you all soon.

That is quite a relic of a phone. :D Long battery life though hehe

Enjoy your holiday!

Another holiday coming up:
Bildschirmfoto vom 2021-07-05 10-05-33.png
This is not the actual route, just start and finish.

We will be using electric Touran to go on this roughly 4000 km trip. Wish us luck :)

So I will be gone between July 19th and August 20th. You can place orders in the shop but they will be sent afterwards. Also I won't answer emails while I'm gone and I'd ask anyone to not write any, as it will probably be lost anyway.

Are you going to be able to charge on the ferry?
Or is ev charging onboard still banned, I can recall I fire on one of the boats from years ago due to an ev fire.

Edit:
Do we get to look forward to the videos of gorgeous scandanvian countryside 😁

I will recharge the car before boarding the ferry, don't want their Diesel generated electricity :)

Yes I do plan to film a bit!

First day done! Drove from Kassel to Kiel with only two 30 minute stops.
In Kiel charging was free :) now we are on the ferry to Göteborg.
No filming so far

Made it to our first destination in Sweden after visiting bexander in Göteborg. At his place poor man's charger failed and we repaired it. Sadly in Trättelanda the output cap released a lot of magic smoke :( it seems there is a repair shop nearby though.

So repair will have to wait till Östersund. Meanwhile charged once for free at Tanumshede. The second time it didn't work and I had to use a payed charger nearby. Here in Årjäng there are two chargers but one is turned off!
The other one must be activated via a web site, not very convenient.

Sorry to say, but so far Swedens charge network is not that great, compared to Germany. And more expensive despite base electricity prices being lower. But I won't bitch too much, I will have to rely on it for a while!

Edit: no I didn't bend that lamp post.

My word, Sweden, or at least the E45 route is a real development country when it comes to fast charging. Lets sum it up:
  • Tanumshede. Good start, free fast charging. Pulled 25 kWh for free.
  • Tanumshede again: the charger wouldn't start, "Problem i laddaren" (problem in charger). Fortunately there was a paid charger nearby that worked
  • Arjäng: one charger out of order, the other worked but required browsing to an awkward website to activate. Status display on said web site, so you can watch the progress from anywhere
  • Torsby: the charger is broken. So I called Fortum who just said "yes we know it's broken, there is nothing we can do". Next charger 30 km in the wrong direction in Sunne. We end up having to put a perfectly working car on the tow truck. Which brings us to..
  • Sunne: queue at the charger. Reason: it's free because it lost internet connectivity. One car charges fine, then a Polestar does not charge at all but fortunately the Touran charges. A desperate Norwegian in a Model X pulls up, not sure whether he got juice. The CCS plug is fixed with duct tape...
  • Malung: there is one charger and it actually works. I have to tell another Norwegian that CHAdeMO and CCS don't work at the same time. She queues up.
  • Orsa: the free charger is out of order, we only have 25% left and the next charger is 45 km away. I'm not calling that tow truck again so we creep to the next charger at 60 km/h. Fortunately on quiet roads. We make it with 10% left.
  • Älvdalen: charger works, yay! We walk the dog and get groceries, meanwhile charge from 10% to 80% in 40 minutes
  • Sveg: First I have no idea how to activate the e-ways charger. Then another desperate Norwegian pulls up who finds out that you need yet another app to start the charger. Only to find out that the charger also has a "problem i laddaren". This time I have 30% left and the next charger is 60 km away. We call call the service hotline who have no idea what to do and always promise a service technician would call back. After two hours we decide to bite the bullet and creep to the next charger again. The Norwegian only had 15% left, no idea what he did.
  • Vemdalen: We actually make it to Vemdalen with 8%. I have to call "pm_dawn" in Östersund to activate the charger for me that also uses the stupid easypark app that doesn't run on my Android 5 phone. But at least it charges.
So roughly every other charger works and the next one is always so far away that you can not or just barely reach it. The service hotlines are pretty much useless. And last but not least efacec chargers seems to be pretty unreliable and need a lot of servicing which they just don't get here. Needless to say the prices don't reflect the poor performance at roughly 4-5 SEK (40-50ct).
Improve this, its a shame for this otherwise modern country!

Despite weak coverage, how would you rate your standard range now. Is it like 200km or more?
Did you use 30% regen as standard or did you turn it off and glide downslope.
Sometimes if i need to extend my range i feel it is better to drive at 70km/h to 90km/h and take regen down so i conesrve energy. And Leaf gearbox is very good at that. I feel that Mazda transmission has much more drag in it.
What do you think your transmission is like?
