Order without VAT within EU

Post by johu »

I have extended the shop with a field that lets you specify for EU VAT Id - something you will have if you run a company. More specifically if you have to draw VAT from your customers you can usually subtract VAT when buying from others. The VAT ID looks like "DE12345678" so your country code and some numbers and sometimes letters.

So, the process isn't quite as straight forward as I want it to be, here is how it works:
  • When ordering, specify your VAT Id in the according field
  • When paying with paypal you will still be charged the price WITH VAT
  • I will see your VAT Id in the order details and will check the ID for validity
  • I will then refund VAT
You can also choose to pay by bank transfer, wait for me to issue an updated invoice and then pay without VAT in the first place. Of course you can choose bank transfer and still transfer money via paypal.

Have you (and Damien) considered working with Lars on a single webshop that provides all the open inverter boards? It sounds like you're doing a lot of work which takes you away from software/hardware development :(

I am in the process of setting up a GDPR compliant webshop for 'special' EV parts already with tax and shipping processes automated. I'll look for a source and can stock some. Once ready, there will be an openinverter.org discount of course. Assuming you agree if I facilitate that, please let me know.

Yes will consider that.
That said I put a bit of work into the shop in the past to automate invoice generation and DHL stamp printing. But maybe Lars' shop has that sorted anyway.
