Any ideas how to get the negative temperature to be read as lowest, instead of the highest number setting it on high reading?
(Also it seems the displayed low temp 0c is being read from non existent module?)

Anything below zero is disregarded not sure the code decodes negative temperatures correctly currently. Mind grabbing some CAN logs so I can review this.

Thanks for your fast reply Tom.

I think the SimpBMS shows pretty accurately the temperatures on the CAN bus and the terminal monitor page.
last night was -22C and currently it is -16C outside.
There is also an outlander charger on the same bus showing similar temps about two degrees colder than SimpBMS (0x377 and 0x389)

Also I was freezing out there :lol:, but laptop held battery long enough to get some fresh and cool CAN!

The NEXTION display was showing -15C as the high temp after I took this CAN capture, so it actually shows the highest temp :shock:
only the low and avg dont work.

I am converting my project with the SimpBMS and already wired up the HV box with contactors, etc. I did the first test without flyback diodes, which must have burned the low-side analog switch on the SimpBMS. Now, the main neg. and pos. contactors (from Tesla Model S, without economizers, ground-switched) are always connected when powered with 12V. The precharge contactor is also connected but I have to do some more testing here. Everything else works like a treat, also the Outlander OBC integration.

Would you be kind enough to share which IC I need to order for replacement of the low-side switch? The print does not yield results. After some research I ended up with the MAX5070/MAX5071 as best guess. Could you confirm that?

Could you share which analog switch IC you are using in your classified PCBs, anyways?

Ask them, they made the boards themselves. They sold it to you so should provide you support.

Sorry to bother you with this again, but did you get a look of My CAN capture and the negative temps?

I wonder why the nextion display shows a negative temp value only on the high temp reading.

I just checked that when the temps were positive, it was still showing low 0C and that propably means that I just have messed the nextion display textbox ID or something somehow?

I have a problem with SimpBMS, or perhaps Teensy 3.1... i got that particular SimpBMS from you years back
When i reconnected one BMS to VW hybrid cells i managed good connection via CAN bus and LCD display.
Then i wanted to connect usb cable to Teensy and Lenovo x270 Laptop so i could get direct cell values from it...

Well it all want wrong! Immediately Teensy started to smoke and my Laptop went dark. I immediately disconnected everything and tried to restart my PC... no dice! My laptop died... Teensy died a smoking death too. Why would that happen at all? Isnt USB port at least 5V buffered?

For future scenarios, can you suggest what to inspect? Can i safely use a USB port expander to buffer SimpBMS?

That is a Teensy thing.
Sorry to hear that happened.
You either need to cut the Vin trace on a Teensy or use a modified USB cable.

Myself I think this as “as per Teensy design”.
Hence the note on the Teensy card

Not sure what exactly is happening if you don’t cut the trace but high current from the laptop for sure.

But i did connect to USB while under external power a lot of times and never had any issue.... why now? Strange...

Thanks for the warning. I know now... I will try to post some photos, but really there is only one element smoked on Teensy... some resistor.

I wonder if this could affect the EVS-BMS? It seems to have Tensi 4.0. I communicate with the BMS via UART, and it's quite inconvenient.

Hm... i didnt actually connect 12V power to the AC lines... i now realize i connected that ACDC converter to HV DC battery and it converted about 350Vdc into 12V stable voltage. I wanted to have everything integrated.
Of course laptop was not connected to AC either it was on its own battery power at the time... I now realize some unknown potential might have been open vs USB port.
