I’m currently working on restoring and customizing a BMW F30 and wanted to ask if anyone here has experience upgrading the steering wheel — specifically replacing it with a custom or sport version.
I'm considering using a non-OEM wheel that comes with M-style contours and sometimes carbon inserts. I came across a site that offers a pretty wide selection of BMW steering wheels compatible with multiple generations — F10, F30, even G-series. The question is mostly about fitment, steering angle sensor compatibility, and how the airbag integration usually works with these.
If anyone has tried aftermarket wheels, did you run into issues with coding, warning lights, or retaining paddle shifters?
