Relay questions

Post by johnsongt350 »

I have a relay that I have been trying to confirm I am.woring correctly. It is being used for the precharge and I have a second one used for the DV to DC converter in my Contactor box.

The way I have it currently connected seems to be incorrect. When I hook up the high voltage I can hear and feel the relay click. See images attached.

This is probably a rookie question for you all. Sorry

You should not hear clicking when applying the HV. You should hear clicking when connecting 12V across the coil. To identify which are coil terminals and which are contact terminals refer to datasheet. Alternatively, check resistance across the two pairs. Without any voltage connected, the coil pair should read something around 120 ohms, the contact pair should read open circuit (unless welded closed). There is usually no polarity necessary for the coil pair, so from the picture it looks wired wrong (low voltage currently connected to + and - terminals. Again, best to check datasheet.
