Battery HVIL and AirBag connections to HV battery

Post by Bigpie »

Any one know what these signals should look like? Specifically the Golf GTE battery.

The HVIL or interlock is just a safety line which is used to shutdown the entire HV system if any part is unplugged. most modules this is just a pass thru the battery module is the originator. there has to be two 75ohm resistors (or one 150ohm) two emulate the motor and inverter

A crash signal is transmitted from the airbag control unit J234 to the battery regulation control unit J840 via the powertrain CAN and a discrete line. If a crash signal is generated, the high-voltage contacts are opened and the high-voltage system is deactivated. The control unit communicates with the high-voltage battery switch box SX6 and the 8 cell controllers via a private CAN.

I haven't checked the crash signal is supposed to be in its off state.

The power contactors are opened if at least one of the following
conditions is met
  • Terminal 15 switched off
  • A crash signal from airbag control unit J234 is detected
  • Maintenance connector TW is opened
  • Fuse for power supply to power contactors terminal 30c is disconnected
  • 12 volt power supply for the hybrid battery unit AX1 is interrupted
  • Safety line open

Ahh yes, I remember the resistors on the interlock now. I had a pack in the garage and was trying to get it to close the contactors, which it did briefly, then opened them, I wondered if it was the Airbag signal I needed, but I'm playing around with the contactor box in isolation now.
