Oh wow that’ll make a difference I’ve been running -60amps now flux linkage / ld gives me like -200 amps

Oops, sorry, missed that when looking at you parameter files!

Yes, -60A is way out, that would explain a lot!

You and me both, I checked both parameter files and didn't notice that.

Once we have a tuning process that works really need to document it somewhere (I had to go back to the equations to check as I couldn't find it anywhere)!

Also explains why it got worse when I reduced it from -100

Mmm more power……
Also a diff waiting to be fitted and an old crank pulley hanging on the input flange as I’ve been thinking prop shaft driven oil pump to replace the electric one which circulates oil while the motor is running, as if I need an more things to build!

So the day I remove my temporary cabin heater, (dishwasher heater and pump) temperature falls below freezing again, roll on quickly making its replacement, no time for a beautiful housing for the ptc element from a £30 240v heater so bent up some plastic in the metal folder with the help of a blowtorch and cover it in some heat reflective stuff I had around, contactor is mounted of the other side of the bulkhead inside the engine bay, all this in aid of freeing up room in the engine bay to locate the outlander changer to make room in the boot for the additional 3 bmw modules!

Very neat. Have you been able to test it yet?

Yes tested this evening, obviously this replaced the old heater matrix in the heater box, battery currently about 300v and it is drawing 13a so 3.9kw not bad for a heater sold as 2.8kw! It’s Much quicker to heat up than the old system.

Definitely won’t be to most peoples taste but I treated the old girl to some fairly unique wheels!

Was it much of a mission to chance the heating element in the cabin? Is it a dash-out job?

To do it the right way is a dash out job, but if you don’t care about killing the heater matrix then you can drop the glove box out, cut the pipes to the heater matrix then slide the matrix out part way cut it off and pull the rest out, then I made the replacement in 2 pieces to go back in

Outlander charger now mounted in the front and plumbed in, not wired up yet, seemed like more effort than expected to mount it in the only available space and keeping to only using oem pickup points!

Seems like a couple of us have been let down by the non ev parts of our cars this week, I’ve been noticing over the last week or so my car seemed more sluggish to the point I was convinced I had a motor problem, until I noticed one of my lovely green wheels turning black, turns out I had a seized front brake callipers, not good for efficiency.
Looked into replacement callipers £300 a side ouch! So I purchased a piston and seal kit.

Have you seen these?

I just bought a similar pair of calipers for my Freelander for the same reason but thankfully in my case they were only £70 delivered for the pair.
I've used ebay calipers in the past with no issues as I hate refurbing old ones.

So when I first put this setup together I decided for some reason to put the main contactors in the inverter case in the space left from the boost section which I removed.

This seemed like a good idea at the time but like a lot of things with an ev conversion there’s things I’d do different next time, one of the issue being the to add chademo I’d need to get more wires into the inverter than I had space for not to mention the need for yet another box somewhere with the chademo contactors, all easy options seemed like they’d be messy so instead I have remade the top of the inverter box with just enough room to add 2 contactors and the isa shunt I need, Not finished yet but it’s a step closer to getting the chademo installed

Another week another small step towards chademo working, port is in the car, make up a little home for it to sit in behind the hole I cut in the bumper in December! Made from my favourite plastic material ; spare lids from whamm upcycled storage boxes it’s really easy to plastic weld together with an old soldering iron! And installed the charge port itself, still searching for a suitable hinge for the lid. Still a bit to do mostly all wiring and configure the isa shut which I forgot to do before installing it!

Also does anyone recognise this connector 5x2 looks to be 3mm pitch
