LDU controller board IC3 and IC5 chips

Post by nilnail »

I ordered an LDU controller board from JLCPCB to assemble myself and it came with a few components missing. (they were out of stock)
When i went to check though the BOM to find which components were there and which weren't I noticed that the parts IC3 and IC5 were marked on my board and the PCB pdf, while they weren't listed on the BOM spreadsheet
After checking the schematic pdf they're listed as both being NCVB401ADTRKGs in the digital outputs section of the schematic

Is it an error that they aren't in the BOM?
Does the board not need the ICs anymore?

It seems they're responsible for controlling the main contactor and precharge relay is this true?

I pretty much update the BOM on every order to substitute parts or omit missing ones. Apparently on github there is a version from the chip shortage. All ICs are needed.

Ok thanks!
IC7 and IC11 are also missing from the BOM, is it safe to buy the chips listed in the schematic and use them as 7 and 11 too?

From the part numbers you are quoting for IC3, and IC5 it appears that you are looking at the version 4B schematic. They were changed to BTS133TC on V5, I assume because the NCV8401A are difficult to obtain. IC7, and the circuit design also changed between V4B and V5.

Wait, theres a V5 of the LDU controller board??
I already ordered a pcb of the V4b and all the substitute parts though.
I imagine that using the V4b pcb will still be fine for controlling the LDU.
I can't find anything newer than V4b on Damien's github, do you know where i could find the V5?

The latest is V6. It is only on my fork: https://github.com/jsphuebner/Tesla-Drive-Unit

EDIT: they all work, I mainly optimized for manufacturing
