Hi Folks,
I am about to embark on an EV conversion and I'm looking at the GS450H gearbox as I'm needing a read wheel drive.
Having watched Damien's videos I'm a bit worried about the high power required for the oil pump.
I have a couple of questions...
1) Does this power requirement cause people problems in real life?
2) In traditional auto gearboxes, the oil pressure is more about the gear changing that lubrication so can the gearbox be fixed in some way and the oil pump removed?
Sorry if these are silly questions, I'm new here
All the best,
Andy.
Am I right to be worried about the GS450h oil pump current?

What do you call high current? Obviously a current of 20amps would be a lot at 12v but will be less than a 1amp draw on your hv traction battery, all loads on the dc dc converter will obviously add up and reduce potential range to a point but I wouldn’t worry about it, I run an external oil pump for cooling oil circulation, i have it controlled by my vcu that runs my RX8 dash so once vehicle is stationary for 10seconds the pump stops
