Charging from mains 3-phase 240v vs 3-phase 400v

Post by linda.ljungdahl »

So, the tesla gen 3 charger seems to use 240v/module (ground to phase x3) to charge the battery?
That is at 16A 16*240*3=11,5Kw, for 32a its the double, 23kw.

But if the charger instead use phase to phase voltage of 400v we can manage with quite a smaller mains current, ie 16*400*3=19kw of a 16a fuse, and 38kw from 32A fuse.

So using a prius inverter with 3 phase input for charging its posible to use 400v phase-phase (beacuse it basically rectifies the incoming 3 phase directly)?

Or am I wrong?

edit:
just saw this post that kinda verified what im saying? viewtopic.php?t=1848
Also why I write this is partly to verify that the tesla charger uses 240v and not 400v although being 3-phase.
