I like to think I'd have checked continuity or something, but... yeah, probably would've been bitten by that too :(

no worries, this just forces my hand to pick the Tesla Model S second gen converter, this animal is not only liquid cooled but requires no CAN control nor PWM of any kind, you just wire up 12 volts to it and it does it's thing, my kinda box

$250 bones on eBay including shipping and tax

That also permits you to stick a 'Tesla' sticker on the back of the truck to really upset people :-) Bonus points if you manage 'Cybertruck'... ahaha

Definitely like the simplicity of just plug in and go!

I'm waiting on slowboat shipping on the parts needed (amp seal connector) to finish up my Yaris board, but I'm hoping to get that inverter running and then use it for the 12v DC-DC and HV battery charging on my main project.
Need to learn. Starting from the basics.

do you see how if we unravel just 8 or so inches past the Inverter branch and into the main branch we get the Resolver connectors with it, this is so HUGE you have no idea, or maybe you do, ha ha
<SNIP>
Thanks for this info. I’ve been stripping my wiring loom today and your posts have been a lot of help. Turns out my loom is quite different! The resolver cables from the ‘gearbox’ terminate inside the main fuse box, as does the wiring from the inverter plug. I’ll have to add connectors myself but at least I’ve got yards of wire to work with.

The difference could be that mine’s a UK model, or just a different year.

since doing an EV conversion for the first time is so super easy and quick, I decided to also paint the truck at the same time, here I am clearing the garage in order to paint, yes it's June, yes it's in California, yes it is drought season, and YES it decided to rain TODAY !!!

Fun Level: 0

Out of curiosity, what's the distance between the firewall and radiator core support on that old truck? From like the wiper motor mounting point to the core?

I just look at how packed some of the other conversions look under hood and think of the apparent cavernous space in the GMC, and wonder if it's "apparent" or "is" cavernous.

all I can say is that I owned three Chevy trucks of three different generations, this built features the Second generation (1967–1972) it being a 60s car makes it a bit smaller and tighter than the Third generation (1973–1987) as all cars in the US got bigger in the 70s

but there are trade offs, if the Second gen has the aerodynamic characteristics of a brick than the third gen is a brick with a parachute tied behind it

been meaning to do this for a while now: Ladies and Gentlemen the Damien Maguire Starter Electronic Workbench (DMSEW) TM

Mandatory before shot (don't let this pic fool you it was a huge mess)
IMG_8952.JPG

hanging your shelves in a closet backing up to a bathroom increases your chances of hitting a water pipe by 400%
IMG_3409.JPG

fun fact: walls aren't straight, closet walls are even worse, think Tetrahedron
IMG_3417.JPG

still need to add more shelves for more chargers, converters, and doo dadders

good god... when I started whacking inverters together I didn't expect anyone to put my picture in a holy shrine.

I'll add that to my bucket list and tick it right off ;)
