Modice enclosures or similar pitch connectors

Post by Ev8 »

Hi everyone does anyone have a current source for the 32 way 12 + 20
Modice enclosure and connectors as used on the Prius gen2 board

Or any alternative pcb plug headers of the correct pitch that’ll work?

I’m currently banging my head against a wall here, everywhere I try is out of stock with long lead times

As a hack for desperate times, it's possible to fit a ModICE board into the Chinese enclosure used for the ZombieVerter. It has 16 extra pins (8 on each side) that you then leave unused. You have to cut the bottom plastic out from the connector and bend all the pins. It's a royal pain and getting the pins to go into the PCB holes feels like lock picking, but I did it myself. Then add a thin sheet of plastic and some 1.6mm thick spacers to protect the PCB and get the connector to align properly above its screw holes.

Thanks guys, I have an old vw ecu housing here so I’ll probably end up making that work instead, and I’ll be able to get both my gen2 Prius boards inside (twin motor) so that’ll probably be the best option, just more work than putting them in the correct enclosures would have been
