Firmware update causing no Parameters

Post by P.S.Mangelsdorf »

Ok so I finally got far enough to begin testing my Tesla LDU.

After adjusting some parameters, I attempted to update to v5.05 to fix a bug that existed in the revision already on the board (from over a year ago).

After the new firmware uploaded and I refreshed, the parameters and spot values would not appear, just the loading spin. (see photo)

What am I missing/what did I screw up?

Edit: No idea why the image is sideways
Edit 2: I tried updating back to 5.00 and have the same issue

Drive unit is in the car and full of coolant. Is there any way to check without removing it to see the board?

Oh I see. I assume power cycling doesn't help?
Does the drive unit operate? That would be equivalent to LED blinking :)
Empty parameter list means no communication between ESP8266 and STM32
But you can still do software updates?

Power cycling had no effect. Nothing out of the drive unit yet, I'm having an unrelated precharge issue.

Yes, I was able to upload new firmware, but still no parameters.

Edit: I might be able to get the inverter cover off by disassembling part of the suspension, but would like to avoid doing that if possible.

I know it sounds simple but have you got a really strong WiFi signal? This occasionally happens to me but usually due to signal strength.

Worth a shot, but try getting laptop right next to inverter or use a booster.

I had a pretty good signal. The laptop was on a low table about 3 feet from the inverter with no obstructions, and I had a good connection and fast refreshes before the update.

I may just try again tonight to see if it persists or magically fixed itself.

If you take of the black plastic near the unobtanium connector you can peek in and see the power LED flashing without opening the inverter properly.

I had a similar issue with no params last week and panic-restarting the device eventually got me to see the params.

Edit: Sorry, nevermind, just saw you are talking Tesla LDU, not Leaf Inverter.

Ok I just confirmed that the problem still exists. Is my only solution to get the inverter open and reset the board? is there anything I can do externally?

Have you tried 4.97.R firmware? that was before introduction of nodeid code that selectively disables the terminal.
Also it'd be good to know whether anything is running at all. Have you configured CAN messages and do they appear? And, silly question, which file did you upload as firmware update?

I tried to update to 4.97 and upload is frozen at 29%.

Using the sine bin file

Ok opened it up, on power up, LED 1 is a solid red, nothing from LED 2

Where is / how do I reset on the LDU board?

EDIT: Tried to upload firmware 4.97 again, and it worked, I've got both LEDs.
EDIT 2: Everything good, its alive!
