BMW Electric Rear Differential

Post by ScottS »

Just came across this motor on eBay. Wasn't aware that there was a BMW Electric Diff like this. It's from a BMW 2 Series F45.

Can't find any information on the specs of these (aside from on Wikipedia, that they're a 65kW motor).

Does anyone know anything about these? Could be another good source of motor/diff combo.

It looks very similar to Outlander rear motor and diff. Power is also similar.
What is the nominal voltage of the system? I seem to recall BMW hybrids use 320V nominal.
Battery looks kinda small. Is it NiMh?

The battery is 292,8V nominal with 26Ah = 7613Wh. Lithium-ion. From 2020 I think I have read that the battery will increase to 10kWh within the same dimensions, I have not yet seen one though.
