This years courses are designed to provide a solid foundation for those interested in converting a vehicle to electric drive.

Courses will be presented by a number of people with current hands on experience including James Brown (here), Fiachra Cooke (here), and Kevin Sharpe (here).

Each course runs for two days over a weekend and will be held in one of the New Electric workshops near Arklow, County Wicklow, Ireland (approximately ninety minutes south of Dublin airport, and ninety minutes north of Rosslare Ferry Terminal).

The course cost is 500 euros per person excluding transport, accommodation and food. A 250 euro deposit is required to secure a place with the remaining 250 euro payable one week before the course commences. Space on each course is strictly limited to a maximum of six participants.

Course participants will be invited to join our online support groups which are currently helping more than 20 people with their conversions. Group buys and trips to events including our convoy to the Fully Charged Live Amsterdam show (here) are also in the works 8-)

If you would like to book a space please email your full name, address, phone number, and VAT details (if you're a company) to sales@newelectric.ie :D

We've abandoned plans for online courses and hope to run physical courses twice a month from March until October 2021.

The courses will be run over a weekend and presented by several people who've converted cars recently. Both Fiachra Cooke and James Brown will be presenting sessions. The plan is that the course will be part of a support package that enables participants to complete conversions easily :)

I'm sorry to announce that our 2021 courses have been postponed because of the latest COVID-19 news from Ireland. We hope to announce new dates later in the year.

Is there any chance existing dates will be reinstated when the situation and vaccination levels have improved? Or are you expecting to start from scratch again?

Was hoping by booking for May that I might have managed to avoid the COVID hangover into this year..

Kevin Sharpe left the forum earlier this year. I'm not involved with the courses any longer so sadly I have no idea.

I went looking for more info a few weeks ago.

I PM'd Kevin and asked him how it was going and for updates but never heard a reply.

All the social media appears to be shut down.

The New Electric Ireland website is gone or just redirects to the New Electric Netherlands website.

A damned shame how things went here. Looked like there was lots of room for everyone to get along, but instead there seemed to be some stretched interpretations of people's intentions in what they wrote, and seems like a cooler-heads-prevailed revisiting of the issue never happened. I myself agreed with both points of view and didn't think there was a right or wrong approach. An exorbitantly stressful year for any business or organization to operate in probably didn't help, either functionally or emotionally.

I wish there was an opportunity to mediate and mend things. I think everyone is a lot closer to agreeing than it sort of seemed to be at the time.
