Can you add this wiring diagram to the GS450H wiki? I don't think Damien has seen it listening to comments in his latest video.Robbertjanzen wrote: ↑Wed May 13, 2020 6:37 pm I have updated the drawing after some remarks and updates found in the software.

So the unobtanium inverter interface plug is actually available from Toyota. Just ordered two from my friendly main dealer parts dept. 8.34 Euros each. Will have them in next week. Toyota part number : 9098012A02

That's great news. Do we have a part number on the pins, gaskets, etc as well, or are they included?

Re: Lexus GS450H VCU Support Thread
Just to save Damien some time answering your question I tried entering the part number on www.toyota.com and that lead me to this info after a few seconds

Re: Lexus GS450H VCU Support Thread
Ok so bit of confusion here. Seems the part number we want is 90980-12630 according to this manual :
https://www.toyota-tech.eu/wire_harness_rm/RM06H0E.pdf
Page 127. Problem is my toyota parts guy says its an unknown number. The hunt continues ...

Slow progress. Toyota part number : 82998-12440 gives a 160mm long pre crimped wire with gasket to fit the plug. Is available from Toyota parts.

This is very interesting, I did not know that you could search for parts on the Toyota website.Kevin Sharpe wrote: ↑Thu Jun 04, 2020 12:11 pm Just to save Damien some time answering your question I tried entering the part number on www.toyota.com and that lead me to this info after a few seconds
Also to note is that there are two sizes of pin used in this connector.Jack Bauer wrote: ↑Thu Jun 04, 2020 2:10 pm Slow progress. Toyota part number : 82998-12440 gives a 160mm long pre crimped wire with gasket to fit the plug. Is available from Toyota parts.
90980-12630 is discontinued, 90980-12A02 is available from Japan for approx £3.
Re: Lexus GS450H VCU Support Thread
In the USA, it looks like this is PN: G9260-47010 (check on the back of your plug for the PN). It might be available in the USA, at least, through Toyota dealers online parts departments, like this one: https://parts.lexusofpembrokepines.com/ ... g926047010
I've located plugs like this one as a repair part for an otherwise damaged and unusable $500-700USA(new price) wiring harness. They were not that common, but they were available. This plug may also fit the Gen 3 inverters used in the Prius C (USA), Yaris, and others.

Success! Called my local Toyota parts guy just now.PN: G9260-47010 is indeed the connector housing for the inverter. 12.40 Euros each. Ordered from Japan so will take about a week to get here.

Are you sure the connector housing in the photo(pretty sure it's PN G9260-47010) fits the Lexus GS450H inverter receptacle? :https://i.ebayimg.com/images/g/jA0AAOSw ... -l1600.jpgJack Bauer wrote: ↑Fri Jun 05, 2020 8:21 am Success! The outside housing indexing slots are in different positions and the small pin count may be different?
Re: Lexus GS450H VCU Support Thread
Do you have some photos of the connector that goes into the inverter? Also, could you look over the connector with some magnification for 10 digit part numbers (there might be several). The PNs are only 1-2mm high and may start with G92.Robbertjanzen wrote: ↑Fri Jun 05, 2020 2:10 pmDamn! i just paid 50 for a scrap versionJack Bauer wrote: ↑Fri Jun 05, 2020 8:21 am Success! It is not really big deal but to keep diagram most accurate you could replace chart for E81 connector with one I posted here:Robbertjanzen wrote: ↑Fri Jun 05, 2020 2:09 pm

This video was posted in the comments section of the deep dive and seems to be a teardown of the gs450h gearbox. I think in Russian?

Re: Lexus GS450H VCU Support Thread
That brings me some unorthodox ideas.
What if one unbolted mg1 and the power split device from the gearbox, welded the output planetary gearset and sealed the input side with an aluminium plate?
I wonder if the transmission needs oil pressure for its bearings or whether it's just for the output gears and maybe extra cooling. If so, you could use it then without the oil pump as a simple ~100kW motor suitable for propeller shaft direct drive, with a much more reasonable size and weight than that of the whole thing.

Re: Lexus GS450H VCU Support Thread
The oil is required for cooling - the water cooling is just via an oil/water heat exchanger, oil flow is required to cool the unit.
Have a look at the teardown technical documents, you can see that the oil passages pass between the front and mid housings, these would need to be addressed.
The mechanical oil pump is mounted to the power split device, this could be reused for cooling.
The surface that you are left with is not flat. The easiest solution is to cut the face of the front section down and re use it. Gut the power split device and remove MG1.
You won't save much weight. Weights are listed in the doc.
https://www.osti.gov/servlets/purl/947393
There shouldn't be any issues with the inverter code and lack of MG1, just remove the relevant lines of code.

Re: Lexus GS450H VCU Support Thread
I'm pretty sure the bearings depend on oil circulated by at least 1 of the oil pumps operating. In addition to cooling and actuation of the final output planetary clutch packs.
Interesting idea though. Could reduce a lot of bulk and eliminate the diameter of the bell housing. But you might want to look at the version of this gearbox in the Lexus IS instead. It's similar except doesn't have the 2stage final output. It's called the L210 (as opposed to the L110 in the GS)

Re: Lexus GS450H VCU Support Thread
Hello, I'm Looking to build a GS450H based EV using your VCU board.
I've found a 4th Generation 2012-2018 GS450H (Second Generation 450H) quite cheap, does the VCU board work with the later generation GS450H?
Has anybody tried to use the later generation as a base for EV conversion yet?
Thanks
Dan
