Volvo XC90 from Sweden

Post by zilion »

I'm thinking about to convert my old V70 to electric tank, but it's my family car for now.
So I'm thinking if anyone from Sweden wishes me to help with import one of old XC90 to replace my trusty V70?

I've never been to Sweden, but I think it's the wright place to get Volvos from :D

I would say it's probably better to try and import from a warmer country. Less road salt to corrode the undersides.

As far as I know Sweden doesn't salt snow :)
They use rubber with spikes.

But you are right, salt makes cars corrode. And I think that it's used on purpose, to shorten life of a car and recycle faster.
And Volvos, at least the old ones, have good corrosion protection.

More or less all of the swedish roads south of road E14 gets carpet bombed by salt every winter. We trade road safety against corroded and extremely dirty cars. To get the car clean in winter you have to spray the whole car with industrial strength degreaser, it really is nasty.

Used volvo XC90 for sale in Sweden today: 370

Used volvo XC90 for sale in Germany today: 1894

I would recommend you to import a volvo from Germany instead. Lower prices, more to choose from and less corrosion. Also much closer to you geographically and less of a hassle getting the car home (no ferry/öresund bridge etc)

I have imported two cars from Germany myself for the above reasons. One of which is being converted right now ;)

Well, I was looking to visit Sweden because I newer was there and you can travel there like normal human.
But after reading this maybe Germany is the way. If only I get a certificate of kosher to cross the border...

I have found some fine Volvo in Sweden in Lidköping, but GoogleMaps shows only car or bike connection and no train :/

Is there any app that finds optimal routes in Sweden?

Thanks bexander. Sth strange is going with google.
But is there any service that will substitute Gmaps? I mean, that will combine train, bus, walk?
