EVGT - Another Z3-based project

Post by bobby_come_lately »

I enjoyed the first (ongoing) project so much, I'm starting a new one. BMW Z3 + Zombieverter + IS300h gearbox & inverter (not yet supported, I know) + Tribute Automotive GT body conversion.

As I can't add pictures to YouTube comments, here's a picture with the drain plug on the side of the engine.
When tightening it needs a new washer and should be tightened to 25Nm. In case anyone buys the engine, it would be a nasty spot for a leak :D

Little vid on the vacuum pump and PAS pump that arrived this week. Nothing new for you guys I'm sure. But question: am I the first one to try the Ford Focus PAS pump? Or am I treading old ground?

Progress. Not as much as I would like, but progress nonetheless.

Might be worthwhile reusing parts of the engine wiring loom and placing your VCU into the ECUs enclosure. So many signals are there! That said, you're using ZombieVerter which probably won't fit.

How much would I NOT like to work on that other car

That's what I did last time. Tempted to put the Zombieverter inside the cabin this time, if only for good WiFi reception! There are two wiring channels that run from that box into the cabin so that's easy enough. Then I can run out from there to the inverter etc.

Post another video on this project last week - nothing very EV related but some very soggy carpets.
