Tesla LDU Driveshaft conversion

Post by Roadstercycle »

Hi Everyone,
Been awhile since I've been here. AEM performance electronics bought my 07 Mustang Tesla conversion so I have not had much to contribute but finally today I finished the new LDU setup for early model Mustangs, Camaro's and any other rear wheel drive cars that you don't want to chop up to put in a whole Tesla drive train. Pressurized oiling and forward reverse running capabilities this design has a Dana 60 flange which can use just about any u-joint setup with off the shelf adapters. You can also build off the flange for any custom hookup for running a manual trans too. Anyway this is just my design for my own projects in the future. One of the fun parts of designing and building this was setting up my own home shop furnace/foundry to cast some lost foam aluminum parts I needed like the bearing cover and side cover since I cut the motor in half.

This means that a <6s 0-100kph First Gen 'Stang is very possible, would also make for a WICKED '64 Ranchero!

Any opinions are my own, unless stated otherwise. I take no responsibility if you follow my way of doing things and it doesn't work. Please double check with someone who knows what they are doing.

Very nice!

Once I finish my current build, I'm considering something similar for the next one.
