Re: i3 controller hacking from diyelectriccar.com
I see that's what Hans is doing, I'm hoping he'll pop some more progress up so we can see how it's progressing. I had another look at this today and I really need to get two battery modules in the front if I can, for space and weight distribution. To do this I need to reconfigure the layout if I can...

Re: i3 controller hacking from diyelectriccar.com
So I've been having a bit of a think and due to the size of the mIni engine bay I am thinking of separating out the inverter parts from the inverter casing and finding something more suitable to house them. I'll probably then go for a separate dc-dc converter and charger in the back of the car.

Re: i3 controller hacking from diyelectriccar.com
Wow!
How did you guys get the dc-dc converter out?
It looks like I'm going to have to go in from the other side to get to the bolt beneath the capacitor

Re: i3 controller hacking from diyelectriccar.com
Pinout with the colors for the resolver, suggestions and not verified. With 12 pin adapter card and solder directly to the card. Hi Hans, Please forgive my stupidity, I am new to all of this. So the resolver is detecting the rotation of the motor and feeding that info back via the board you have ad...

Re: i3 controller hacking from diyelectriccar.com
3. Lastly, I've made some waterjet cut blanking plates to close off cooling for the charger and DCDC inside the housing. This is just to remove them whilst they aren't doing anything useful and remove some weight from the assembly. Unfortunately it's not straightforward to do this, as some posts ha...

I’ve had to reshape the lid a bit, pushing it out away from the board between the two lines.

Re: i3 controller hacking from diyelectriccar.com
Putting the bits back together as someone mentioned on here before the board comes into contact with one of the bolt holes from the upper plate. If the small board could be moved 4 or 5 mm towards the edge it would have clearance.

Re: i3 controller hacking from diyelectriccar.com
I've bent the backing plate using a socket and vice to give clearance to the board. Is anyone else looking to put the plate on top of the board too?

BMW i3 bms
Hi all I'm after advice I'm converting a classic Mini (so no Can etc) using a BMW i3 and I'd like to know what recommendations you all have for the BMS. Can I hack the i3 system or should I go for Orion or similar? I'm also still undecided whether to cool the batteries or not, I live in the UK so do...

A friend of mine has soldered the board for me, hopefully if work is light tomorrow I can start on the inverter. He's done some video and pics for me so they'll go up on my YouTube channel when it's in the inverter.
