Re: ZEVA has gone "open sorce"
So it seems component prices are making things a bit expensive. For parts like the current sensor, monitor, EVSE interface it's cheaper to buy it from Zeva and ship it to the UK than it is to have just the pcb boards assembled with PCBway. Even then there are hard to find components missing from the...

Re: ZEVA has gone "open sorce"
When using the Zeva BoM against the JLCPCB parts list is somewhat hard to find the correct part. But searching for BoM part number at Digikey and use the Digikey part description at JLCPCB gave all parts exept for the connectors and rotary switch. The atmega16m1 and ltc1602 are not in stock so I ha...

Re: ZEVA has gone "open sorce"
I have finalized the order for a first batch of 25 units BMS12 (without the 3D printed housing but STL file is available). Prices wil be around 50 - 60 euro per 12 channel module. If anyone is interested let me know. I didn't have much luck with JLCpcb, did you need to swap in allot of parts from t...

Re: ZEVA has gone "open sorce"
That's a nice way to end a business. The designs look quite DIY friendly with 3D printed cases and cheap, minimal parts. I bet someone will start a spin off business out of these, given the extremely liberal license. I'm currently getting everything together for a first batch of 30 units BMS12 but ...

Re: ZEVA has gone "open sorce"
Neat, does this potentially improve any of the projects or efforts underway in this community? I'm pricing up getting the BMS boards made. If they are reasonably cheap and available it will be a pretty easy BMS solution. Canbus communication is default as well which helps allot. If that works I'll ...

Options for controlling 28v ACIM forklift motor
So I'm currently helping a friend with a farm machinery conversion to electric. Nothing too exciting, just a machine that spreads sawdust. It runs off two hydraulic pumps, one for moving and another for sawdust spreading. We ended up with a 28v AC jungheinrich forklift hydraulic pump motor, that I w...

Re: ZEVA has gone "open sorce"
That seems like kind of a big deal, assuming ATmegas are more plentiful than STM32 chips. Might be a nice simple BMS option.
Lots of other really useful stuff on that site as well.

PCBway have STM32F105RBT6 available at about $24 each with a 6-8 working day waiting time.

Re: MG F - Outlander Rear differential with Prius Gen 2 Inverter.
It drives! Had to move sheds so I decided it would be nice to move it under it's own power. Used 20s kokam cells, with the light bulb precharge and big switch from the bench test. No brakes of any kind so had to be careful. Throtcut was at 1 for the video, I was full throttle going up the slight hil...

I'm by no means an expert or even know that much than yourself 🤪, from what I have been doing and what I have learnt on the open source spaceballs (simp BMS copy) board that I have worked on .... Re: MG F - Outlander Rear differential with Prius Gen 2 Inverter.
Finished the coding for the most part now and moved onto the PCB Design. This has been another steep learning curve! Ended up with 30 odd pins at one point so decided to use the same 56 pin enclosure that the Zombieverter uses since it's pretty cheap and available. Done a first draft of the PCB just...

I emailed them to confirm this. They said that BMS is obsolete. Shame since it looked pretty good.

Re: Cheap(ish) BMS from Aliexpress
I emailed bestech and they claimed that 80s is too big for their BMS systems. So that rules them out from most car applications.

Re: Prius Gen2 adapter board development thread
Just a quick question about the contactor signal wires. They are ground signals so all they do is connect whatever is connected to ground correct? So I should be safe to connect a couple teensy signal pins to pins 15 and 16 on the OI board and have that pull the teensy pins to ground when needed, as...

That seems so simple now you have said it. Thanks for that! I would have been messing around for ages to try and get it close enough with no resistors.

Re: Teensy Flexcan Canbus mailboxes
Ok I think I figured this out. I think my main problem was a complete lack of coding knowledge. Ended up using Flexcan_T4. I use the following to filter Can ids into mail boxes. Right now I am only using one mail box, but it is ready for when I need to add more canbus messages. void setup() { Can0.b...

Re: Teensy Flexcan Canbus mailboxes
Thanks for the information. So if I understand your first code correctly, you are setting a filter for 0x520, 0x7f0 on mailbox 0, and letting everything through on mailbox 1? Then you are forwarding Mailbox 1 on. I've managed to make sense of 'rx_singlebus_withobjects' this time around, so I'm ahead...

Teensy Flexcan Canbus mailboxes
Ok i've been working on this for a few days now but I just can't get my head around Flexcan mail boxes. I can setup the mailboxes, and set masks so that each mailbox will only read a certain can ID. But then how do I retrieve that data? Does anyone have a fairly simple arduino/teensy flexcan script ...

Re: crz hybrid dual motor conversion
From what little I know about the IMA half of structure is the engine. So if you remove it from the engine to run by itself you would have to make up a new cover of sorts to keep it all together. Happy to be wrong on that though. I'm planning to get myself a Honda IMA if the next projects is a UTV a...

Re: The joy of Finite State Machines
Nice, I'm a big fan of keeping the aesthetics as original as possible. I'm planning not to add anything to mine and just use temporary displays for anything more than what the original dash can display. I'm currently stuck figuring out how to handle more than one Canbus ID, just found your github fo...

Re: crz hybrid dual motor conversion
I believe the Honda IMA motor is integrated into the flywheel side of the engine which makes it pretty hard or impossible to do what you are suggesting. The IMA is pretty weak with around a 10kW output as well. So you would be better off just focusing on increasing the Leaf Motor output if you want ...

Re: The joy of Finite State Machines
Fair enough. I've made a start on the canbus side now, I don't think it will be all that bad in the end. My Canbus is pretty limited in my build to start with though. Just OI inverter and OI BMS talking to the teensy. About 2 canbus IDs.
