SciroccoEV wrote: Tue Jun 23, 2020 9:15 pm High conduction losses when used at realistic vehicle voltages.
That depends on what you compare with, my Toshiba IGBT (from 1999) has max forward voltage of 3V at 400A 25C.
This one has max forward voltage of 4.6V at 600A 25C.

So if I put it in my truck, I will get the same loss at 400A

Re: Simp BMS

As I said: "I would like to bleed them for long time instead of dissemble the whole pack." I just want to know If it's not good for batteries to balance at the hole voltage range? I will use a hole weekend, maybe more (because I'm slow) to dissemble the pack. It's built up in 4 layer, tons...

Re: Simp BMS

So I could set the threshold voltage very low, like 3.2V, and it will balance all time.
Is it a bad idea?

I think the two high batteries will never get down to average, if I just balance at the top.
They may be 5-10Ah higher. That will take months.

I have Simp BMS and 14 Tesla model S batteries, but two of them are much higher voltage. Is there a way to discharge (bleed) only these (6+6 cells)? I would like to bleed them for long time instead of dissemble the whole pack. I could probably do the changes in software, but need some hint :) Have t...

Re: Can't Kill A Toyota Inverter

Can we measure OEM inverter deadtimes somehow? Maybe a Lexus transmission because those are being run by the original brain board still. I guess it's possible to measure deadtime of any inverter which is controlled over CAN. I wonder what Tesla is using for their parallel IGBT setup. If you have a ...

Hello Forum. Looking for some advice here please. Re: Inverter Firmware v4.85.R

Yes always hard to figure out. Try to make a detailed drawing that shows the 3 PWM channels and the current sensor connected to each channel. Then make sure pwm1 is the channel sensed by il1, pwm2 sensed by il2 (possibly after pinswap). Does it really matter what phase you put the current sensors o...

Can I use spot value "TURNS" for km trip counter?

Now I use the RPM received from CAN, for kmh and km trip counter, with the display unit (Teensy 4)

But It's not accurate.
Could I use the TURNS value?
How high does it count, before rollover?

I would need it to go to about 300.0km (one decimal would be nice)

Re: Ford Ranger Inverter board Support Thread

Do your self a favor. Next time you have the inverter out or before you mount it, do this: Drill a small hole for a cable and connect to the board, this way you only need to open the bottom lid to get to the programming port, if update from wifi fails. Put a corrugated sleeve on the cable for HV iso...

That is a good idea, or maybe only use the SOC, shouldn't that be linear to the battery kWh?
Map 0-100% SOC to 0-60kWh

Re: Pre-charge and main contactor connections

I also agree that it is a bad idea to have the contactors controlled by anything else than the inverter. If you open the power path while in regen voltage will shoot up so fast that the slow overvoltage limit cannot catch it. Booom. But how can I control the NEG contactor from the openinverter? And...

Is DCSW the output, for the main contactor ? Is the process of pre/main a squence or timing only ? Yes the DCSW is for main contactor, but does not have any economizer PWM function! - The current sensors are attached to L1,L2, and send out a signal voltage of about 13 and -13 Volt. I don't know how these voltages depend on current yet, but anyway I think I will try to build in a magnetic field sensor as Johannes' sense boards do. That would spare me from a lot of work with try...

Signal wiring. If you look at the new EV's there is no long analog/signal wires. Everything is CAN bus. Cast "heavy" aluminium enclosures. They don't save on weight there? In old EV's like the Ford Ranger 1999, there is no shielded wires. Where there is long analog/signal wires, it's twist...
