Re: Subaru Impreza 96 - AWD with 2 Outlander rear motors

I always wanted to have a “gear selector” that just changes the torque balance between front and rear. Manuel torque vectoring. As you enter a corner, start pulling the lever back to make it more rwd, and as you exit push it forward to make it more fwd.

Re: BMW i3 range extender inverter

These are neat, I’ll have to check one out. A Honda IMA inverter is worth looking into. all the PWM, temp and current wiring has been hackd. lebowskie controllers used on them often for bikes. But I think a few have used an OI board as well. They are rated for 30kw

Re: Subaru Impreza 96 - Need advice for components, Outlander Rear Diff + prius Inverter?

I think your idea with 2 outlander rear diff motor units is good. The leaf motor and gearbox are huge in comparison.

I don’t see an issue with hitting 100kw on each outlander motor.
there should be enough room to mount one in the rear cradle.

I’ve thought about using the same setup on my brat..

Re: Subaru Impreza 96 - Need advice for components, Outlander Rear Diff + prius Inverter?

I know they can be hard to come by as they are still new vehicles, but why not a 2019+ crosstrek hybrid transmission?
They are essentially a gs450h transmission but with the Subaru awd. Would leave engine bay empty!

Re: Marina Coupe 1976 Vintage

What is the diff ratio? I’m not sure you’ll have enough gearing to appropriately move the vehicle.

there’s many different resolver “kits”, you may be able to find a “resolver bearing” and replace one of the rotor bearings with one.

Re: VW T2 -76

….. When i tried them on they would go in the gearbox but not all the way. It seems EM57 shafts are thicker than EM61 or have the wrong spline. When i got corect shafts everything fitted. Anyone has more experience? Yanik mentioned that the are sort of different. But can’t tell if its just the oil ...

Re: VW T2 -76

I haven’t confirmed yet if the diff splines on the em61 and the em57 gear box are the same. But I I’m very close to having the vw stub shafts for the em57 gearbox done. they’ll have a bug irs transmission spline on the opposite end so type 1,2,4 or 108mm(930) flanges work. But I agree, the em61 gear...

Re: LDU parameter tuning

Yeah getting custom axels shafts made is really quite an easy job. Indexing head and a fly cutter on a mill. nothing to fancy. definitely worth building in universal ways. 108mm cv joints (930) are used every where. But cutting to match the Tesla inner race splines is easy. Cheaper if you already ha...

If the brain board in the inverter is replaced with one of the open inverter boards could it be paired with the Zombieverter at that point? Yes, in that case any inverter with a oi board that drives the power stage. You will need to set up the can id’s between the zombi and oi board tho. Should be ...

Motors and paired inverters only work with the zombieverter, so you’ll need to get another leaf Gen2+ inverter. Any of the 80,110, or 160 kw versions will work

Re: BMW i3 or Nissan EM57 engine? Cheaper and easier?

Leaf parts are all very well tested and work great. We have a pretty healthy supply of options for controlling and adapting the motors and all the other leaf parts. the there’s a replacement board for the i3 motor now, but it’s fairly new, compared to the leaf parts available. Also if your not using...
