Which DC-DC are you working on? I'm helping an old auto salvage client, Nordstrom's Auto, with a couple chevy Bolts right now if that is any help?

Re: Dream Job With GM, Inverter Electrical Design
I never figured GM as designing anything for production, merely specifying functional modules to their suppliers. OEM's do a bit of both. Specs are published to suppliers and once a design is chosen we help to ensure the design standard throughout it's production. In recent days that means coming u...

Dream Job With GM, Inverter Electrical Design
Greetings All! This week I accepted an offer from GM for inverter electrical design and can't begin to thank everyone involved here enough for providing the resources to achieve my dream job. Damien and Johannes specifically though deserve a thanks all their own as we all know much of what we have w...

Re: GS450H Discussion
I can certainly find that out but I would guess so since it is designed to push atf into bearings and is located after the radiator. I forget where I found the info but at some point I found posts talking about how bmw has a trans oil pump with the same pump core just different housings as the OEM 4...

Re: GS450H Discussion
I know some have had questions with regard to another option for oil pump and think I may have a solution. I'm currently converting my highlander hybrid to EV and it contains a cute little oil pump that is reasonable and has easy hose connections HERE I'm also converting a BMW with the full 450h tre...

Re: Toyota inverter IPM(IGBT module) thermal grease replacement
Lapping the contact surface of the IGBT copper base plate and mounting surface of inverter housing would give you the best results. I believe warping of the inverter housing over time would cause the igbts to separate and any uneven heat would more than likely be the result of that and not bad therm...

Re: Audi A2 /w Prius Gen2 Transaxle & Inverter [FINISHED]
Re A/C: It's probably quite easy if someone with an actual Prius can sniff that 6-pin connector. Lacking technical expertise, I'll try doing some outreach on Prius forums or something. What exactly would be the task I am asking? Let's presume the people I'm reaching out to are nerdy EEs who drive P...

Re: any source for Lexus gs450h can hacking?
Would it be possible to keep the ICE and add a 600V+ battery to the DC bus terminals? I want a full plug in hybrid out of my highlander hybrid and not be limited to what the boost converter can provide.

https://nicjam.es/projects/derptruck/part_2/ There is some good data here on using the gen 2 as a dc motor controller with the limiting factor being that the gen 2 has an output of 40kw total for a brushed DC motor with a glance at page three

Re: Prius Gen2 Inverter DC Motor Controller
Have you checked output with a scope to see if you are getting pwm? This is one of the first steps setting up these systems since it allows you to test for inverter function without needing to fully power on. If you aren't getting pwm out then we shouldn't even be talking about any high voltage.

Re: Toyota MGR Rear Traction Transaxle
Got some bad news on the rewiring front, the MGR consists of 48 poles meaning 16poles per phase and 4s4p configuration. I've designated the half dozen transaxles I currently have as engineering samples so if anyone has any recommendations for rewiring I would be happy to hack at the windings without...

I do have a confession of having more redneck hobbies in the Pew Pew realm. In the past I was heavily into casting my own projectiles and thus have significant quantities of pure-ish lead in storage. This is the setup I use to process scrap lead so it was just a matter of dropping in a few ingots an...

I've also got a gen 1 and 2 camry inverter along with a RHD LS600HL inverter to compare against the 450h inverter as well. If you can see the rough dimensions written down, take note ...

Re: Lexus RX400H FWD Inverter Teardown! Lots of Pictures!
Prius gen 2 shuts off when one of the phase currents gets too high. But not to worry, the limits are pretty darn high. Prius Gen2 shuts off at 460 amps on the high-power side, which is about as much as anyone needs. Maybe the RX400h will push 600 or 800 amps! Damien did some power testing on the Ge...

Re: Lexus RX400H FWD Inverter Teardown! Lots of Pictures!
Those bus bars look much thicker than the Gen2 Prius, which is about similar in year. So I wouldn't be surprised if that's got way more current capability. Prius Gen2 is factory rated for 50Kw. MG2 in the RX400h is rated for 163hp, which translates to 120Kw. I'd say lots more power. Also looks like...

24-36-48v.. Server Power Supply C7000
My needs for a cheap and powerful DC power supply led me to server power supplies. There is an abundance of info out there on different power supplies you can use but most of which have a rather complex and error prone process to use in a series string for higher voltages. The psu I picked is from H...
