Re: Separating L110 transmission from 2GR-FSE engine (Lexus GS450h) [SOLVED]

I don't have the engine anymore. I sold it. It was pretty heavy but I had no way of measuring the weight exactly.
According to Google - The 2GR-FSE service weight is 174 kg (384 lb).

Re: Hyper car hybrid

Is that an original RS200? I would have though it too rare and valuable to modify. No objection mind you.

I looked over the flywheel. Couldn't see anything of concern. Looked perfectly fine.

L310 transmission SAE whitepaper

Found this online - https://www.jstor.org/stable/26169151?read-now=1 Mostly about the newer L310 transmission in the LC500H but there's some comparisons to the original L110 transmission. TLDR: L310 uses 4 gears instead of 2 to achieve more torque and higher efficiency in a shorter and quieter packa...

Re: Separating L110 transmission from 2GR-FSE engine (Lexus GS450h) [SOLVED]

There's a dowel near the top of the mating surface. This will bind if the trans and engine are not in perfect alignment. Make sure they are both level and supported. I then used a flathead screwdriver with a long shank to carefully wedge them apart. There is no internal connection between them. The ...

Separating L110 transmission from 2GR-FSE engine (Lexus GS450h) [SOLVED]

Anyone got some hot tips separating the L110 transmission from the GS450h engine? Is it just a matter of removing the externally accessible bolts holding the 2 together or is there something internal to do with the flywheel/torque converter that needs to be accessed through a service panel? I know t...

Re: GS450H MG1 and MG2 Torque Ratio and oddity in inverter protocol [SOLVED]

I suspect the formula ratios outlined above are to do with the fact that once the input shaft from the combustion engine is locked (in relation to the transmission housing) MG1 will be turning at a higher RPM and in the opposite direction to MG2. Due to the nature of the planetary gearset.

Re: GS450H Discussion

Mechanical oil pump will not generate any pressure while vehicle is stationary. That's why the transmission has a secondary electric pump.

Without oil pressure the clutch packs will disengage at stop lights.

So does it use 1 sound sample and bend the pitch and volume according to CAN speed input? Or are there discrete samples?

Re: GS450H - How to remove the engine - Any tips?

I can't give you specific advice on engine removal from this car as I haven't done it yet myself, but 99% of modern cars have their engines and transmissions assembled on the front subframe and this is then lifted up from below into position with all the suspension attached. Therefore easiest is to ...

That's very interesting. Thanks.

Looks like the sort of thing you could turn backwards and mount in the rear of RWD car, ignoring the coupling that would usually drive the rear diff in the Subaru.

The electronics are encased in a resin that is poured in. Looks like there was simply a little bubble in the mix when that resin was poured and popped when setting.

Re: any source for Lexus gs450h can hacking?

Do you mean hacking the GS450h to make it run as a pure EV? This can possibly be done but you'll only have a range of about 5km before the battery is low.

Did you see Hoovie's video about why his C65 was totalled because of an oil leak?
To replace the seal you have to remove a bracket.
To remove the bracket you have to remove the timing cover.
To remove the timing cover you have to remove the head.
WTF!?!

From what I understand Lo Gear requires Brake 2 (B2) to be active ie. applying clamping force, and B1 open And Hi Gear requires B1 active and B2 open. Looking at the state diagram it appears O represents "active" and X represents "open". What's not obvious is whether the solenoid...

I cannot afford that, although it would be cool Leaf Motors are super cheap . And you could probably drive 2 of them with 1 Toyota inverter. I've yet to see real world evidence of their cheapness. Saw a motor /inverter stack on ebay for a grand just last week Here : https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Nissa...

You mention awd being fine with an lsd in the centre diff, you don't specifically mention a centre diff in the drive train, does the divorced transfer case act as such in this application? Re: Connecting a GS450H to an existing Transfer Case?

Locking the gears will give you a higher top speed. I'm just imagining the amount of work required to connect the L110 to your transfer case. Mating the Leaf motor to your gearbox will be much easier.
