Re: Electrify Your Ride - new conversion guide book

That order got cancelled somehow, so last week I remembered to re-order.

Do we really not have a German word for 'crimp'?

Had a quick browse, will read the electronic section in detail.

Tesla Charger Support thread gen2/gen3

Hello, the last one got closed because it went out of hand, so here is a new one. Helpful resources for both: Wiki Gen2 Wiki Gen3 Tesla Charger Firmware thread previous: Tesla Charger Support Thread (started in 2019) There has been ongoing development for a long time, so consider the information in ...

Re: Cutting out for no apparent reason

If its cutting out randomly that could be many different things, of which the vacuum pump could be one.

It would be good to get visiblity of the error flags in the inverter, you lose access to that webinterface when it cuts out, too?

Re: Maintain Tesla Gen2/3 OBC firmware

We could re-open a charger support thread and I am happy to discuss answers there for a start, so you don't have to get too involved in everyday requests. For maintenance of the code I wouldn't set out on greenfield development, but if the same problem comes up over and over again I might be able to...

Re: BMS questions

split pack or all in one place? Don't go for a single BMS in a split pack, extending sensing wires is error prone. How good are you with code? Johannes BMS is coming along slowly and needs code contributions/a real world test. What comes with the Kia? If they have slaves already it might be worth in...

Re: [DRIVING] The Clipper Cab - Converted London Taxis! [FINISHED]

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZmWREtcDVBE I can't believe I forgot to brag about this: Tom Scott drove a Clipper Cab as well last year. Here is my vanity shot with him and his red T-Shirt afterwards. Video is more about taxis in general, and not really the conversion, but hey ho! clipper_cab_and_t...

Next for the charging, Tesla Gen 2 or use the inverter board?
...
Most people fit an A/C charger, I am not aware of any projects apart from johu's Polo that used/are still using the inverter charging.
Correct me if I am wrong.

Re: [WIP] Dual motor W124 E320 Estate

... My biggest question is would this truly require an - or rather two - OpenInverter boards? I think it depends on the extent of the swap, right? If I were to put all of the Tesla control systems in, it should work because it won't "know" it's riding in an old chassis. But do we know the...

... I was intending leave my packs joined most of the time. This RWD leaf gearbox mod looks perfect for me. How has it run in the real world? Many miles? Can I buy this from you/ your supplier? Rather than re-invent the wheel of course. Amazing taxi projects BTW. Taxis ran 20k+ miles, no problems with it. I sent you a PM. Need to figure out shipping to wher...

Re: Update via wifi fails

Can you open developer console in the browser and go through the upload process and see if there are multiple requests coming through?

Which firmware are you trying to flash? Fellten or OI?

You might have to take it out, but it is worth trying a few things over wifi first.

Happy to take OpenInverter support calls for any EV project people might have in mind  @uhi, I built some fuse boards and open sourced them (they weren't a big success), then I built some Leaf BMS testing boards and open sourced them (people liked them!). I changed only batteries, not BMS or other parts in battery box. It sounds like you did a 40kWh upgrade? Surprised the 40kWh cells fit into the 24kWh box without changes. Best forum member to talk to is dala https://dalasevrepair.fi/ I think you will need: 40kWh BMS dalas 40 -> 24 CAN bridge and wi...

Re: Is a Leaf BMS OK with the Battery being split in the wrong place?? [SOLVED]

My theory is by doing so the BMS will not have full pack voltage across it therefore any oddities from charger/heater etc. cannot harm it. Explain this in more details please. I don't think this is a good plan, but maybe I am misunderstanding. Where would the relay be and where would the maintenanc...

Re: [WIP] Solar sailing with openinverter

Exceptional! I live on a narrowboat in England myself, much smaller scale. I have 3 solar panels, so about ~800W peak, that is not enough for a fridge or freezer in winter, but good for most day to day appliances. It looks like you have 10x at least in surface area. my displacement is 18t, Diesel is...

Yeah, don't put the disconnects in another place, I have done that and it was stupid and I burnt more than one BMS that way.
