Rolling a GS450H car in neutral

I'm re-watching Damien's and Greg's video's and thought to myself, can you spin the GS450H (roll the vehicle) with the batteries disconnected without damaging the stock inverter(s)? I'm guessing there isn't a true neutral in the GS450H either? From my understanding, spinning a motor connected to an ...

Re: Project demystification - make openinverter.org more accessible

Nice, now the forum is quite hidden though, I would make the link bigger/more prominent on the wiki sidebar maybe? I won't lie, I had a moment of panic when my usual link didn't bring me to the forum! I sure wish my work would slow down so I could go back to hobbying some EV stuff and contribute.

New Mach-E motor on discount

The local parts store has this for $1,400. The external cooler got damaged in shipping so the whole thing got returned.

I can't use it but dang its tempting. Its in Sparks, Nevada.

It looks like a motorcycle or ATV jack. My guess is the GS450h is about 100lbs/50kgs over what the jack is designed for.

And here I thought leaving the 400 hood on my Firebird was sacrilegious when I put a turbo L6 in my Firebird, lol!

Re: The Greg's Grid Tie Solar Project

Not too bad of a result for an experiment! Yeah definitely going to be a battle optimizing panel angle to match peak cost/use time. Mostly because the sun won't be in the same place at the same time every day. You should write your local astronomer about that! I'll no longer wonder where you get all...

Dumb guy question, what is the definition here of a "Cold Start" versus a "Hot Start"? Being a big block V8 guy my perspective on those terms I think are quite different. Thanks!

I haven't looked in a good year, but the scrapers near here are in northern CA and they seem to want gold for every part.

Re: Drive units with failed inverters

Hmm interesting premise. I'm planning on putting a GS450H in my ol' Thunderbird (already have the trans/inverter) because the LDU's around here seem to be big dollars. If I could get one though with a blown inverter, preferably with the whole rear subframe, I wonder if the GS450H inverter could be m...

Re: The ZombieVerter VCU Project

Thanks for the update. I plan on using it on a GS450H (looking forward to the new boring video!) so the chip for shifting is important to me. I'd have to go review my notes on CAN3.

Thanks again!

:o Nice! I finally caved to a commercial install of solar to my house, but got an inverter that is "battery ready" so I can potentially utilize my EV conversion project as a home battery when I'm not driving it for days on end.

Re: The ZombieVerter VCU Project

How's the supply chain hardware situation on ZombieVerters? I've been sitting on the fence ordering one for a couple month's knowing some critical components were(are?) back ordered and up to the purchaser to source and assemble. Based on my skill set, I'd prefer ordering one with as complete a boar...

I'm playing catch-up on your project, with the rear driveshaft, why not use the fixed carrier bearing then take your rear shaft to a drive line shop and have them build a sliding 2-piece driveshaft with your driveshaft ends? Like a lot of front driveshafts are on 4x4's. That's how I'm envisioning do...
