Lexus GS450H in Ireland

We have decided to sell our Lexus GS450H because we have more projects than we can cope with at this time. This car was purchased in the UK and driven to Ireland by Damien and Kevin. It is now registered in Ireland. The only known fault is that one of the battery modules needs replacing. This car wo...

I'm sorry to announce that our 2021 courses have been postponed because of the latest COVID-19 news from Ireland. We hope to announce new dates later in the year.

Re: The VCU change discussion

On a wider point I would like everyone who threw Open Inverter customers under the bus yesterday to have a good look at themselves. Many people have come here in good faith and want to use these products to move cars down the road. I'm not at all surprised that as usual Damien has stepped up and is ...

Re: The VCU change discussion

I have asked Kevin to put these individuals in touch so as I can make some arrangements with them. I've reached out to the signal group this morning and asked them to post here and contact other people they are working with. Everyone is on your side, we just need to support them and find a path for...

Re: The VCU change discussion

Yes indeed the risks associated have been highlighted by Kevin and I fully agree with his analysis. where I would however differ is the solution to this (limited liability company, insurance, legal rep etc) was in the past completely useless in protecting me against personal harm in a previous ende...

Re: The VCU change discussion

Do we need to describe everything as an experimental beta kit? I'm just worried that if the target audience is non technically minded and wordings around the 'kits' that it is only a matter of time before someone has a serious accident and we have to close the forum & erase the github repos due...

One of the great things about Google is that you can find the DVLA website which contains the constraints that apply to car conversions. Maybe you should try that before you cut out the boot of your next car?

You seem like quite the expert here I've been in product development for ~45 years and New Electric have converted more than 1,000 vehicles. I probably have some relevant experience :) If you want to know more look out for our next Fully Charged video 8-) but then duck out when any sort of tangible...

We did some work on a rally car and all the components were tested in a vibration chamber. Maybe you could improvise something similar?

A lot of Open Inverter product customers are 'car people' not 'computer people'. Many read this forum but do not communicate because this is a challenging environment for none technical people.

Re: The VCU change discussion

To rely on community support of a project that can ebb and flow with the desires of others seems awfully risky as a large scale commercial offering. I agree. However that doesn't really help all those people who have recently purchased Open Inverter products which are clearly no longer supported. I...

Re: The VCU change discussion

I remember that goes for the small series end product which are essentially new products and require warranty. That is correct. Products sold in the EU need a minimum two year consumer guarantee. Commercial guarantees ("warranty") are optional but recommended. Open Inverter "kits&quo...

Must be a difference of mindset, if I wanted to avoid getting technical, I'd buy an expensive kit. You're a software guy, lots end users are not. Given these don't work on delivery I don't think you can blame people who just want to use the product without buying programming tools, searching out mi...

OK, I'll suggest they contact you as a group and see if you can work out what's going on. It's a pain when end users have to re-programme hardware that should be working on delivery.
