Re: Fried my Precharge Resistors [SOLVED]

The stock Leaf PC resistor is 40W 30ohm based on the one I removed that failed under similar conditions. If the DC-DC is active or the inverter is "ON" during PC, this can cause an overload. Also, if the voltage setting for PC is too high, the PC system can remain on for too long and overh...

I actually tested a "regular" line voltage hair dryer at similar DC voltage, worked just fine ;)

de-ICEing complete! This is the pile of stuff that won't be going back to the car, at least not in that shape or form. T4 engine, its transmission, firewalls and insulation, fuel tank, filler hoses, and so on. Also just pure trash like old window seals in the plastic bags. https://ceravyn.net/up/VW...

Why yes I do have the tap wire harness, but the covers have been butchered for a couple other projects. Problem is shipping from USA to DE might take longer and cost more than they are worth.

RetroZero has the Prius Gen2 inverter & transaxle in his VW project running, did not find his settings however.

Re: Need help with FOC tuning (prius gen2 inv+ gen2 MG2)

The video Damien published with Johannes needs to be followed exactly if one hopes to get the FOC settings correct, starting with the resolver wiring checks. I had similar problems, all of my own doing from a lack of understanding and the video confirmed just how far off my thinking was :O The Gen2 ...

Re: Using SRS (airbag) sensor to trigger shutdown/contactor open?

May not apply to all, but the SRS training I have had suggests that at least *some* of the crash sensors are "single use" and must be replaced once tripped. This potentially a very big problem as if you cannot reset it, you are stuck. The inertia switches common on the 80s and 90s vehicles...

I read a lot about this stuff and the conclusion this- > Replacing OEM battery without using OEM hardware is major pain in the ass to make it work with stock HEV/BEV. Nobody makes replacements boards for CMU and BMU that work with the rest of OEM components of HEV/BEV > Replacing NiMh with li-ion o...

Pretty sure Damien had ~300A thru it, so at a dc voltage of 220, that'd be 66kW peak :o I do know MG2 is rated for 50kW, so at least that.

Re: Prius Gen2 adapter board development thread

Can this additional ground connection be good solution to all unknown problems? Now this ground travels from VCU, that is like 1.5 meters away from inverter. Noise will not be filtered by more grounds being connected in my experience, but certainly won't hurt based on the published pin mapping! Loo...

Re: Lexus GS450h RPM vs MPH Speedometer

It's actually fairly simple...

(Motor RPM*60)/[trans ratio/final ratio tire revs/(mi or km)]

The word version: Motor turns per hour divided by the total gear ratio over tire revolutions per unit measure (miles or km) = Distance Per Hour

I'd really like to get my hands on this.
Would it not be possible to route the throttle thru a voltage reducing circuit active in reverse only? That's how I did it with my Elec-Trak ;)

Re: Are there Gen 3 Prius inverters to avoid?

Larry, where in the world are you? I *think* some of my cables are for a Gen3, but were mis-identified when I purchased them. In the USA Toyota had a recall on the certain Gen3 inverters, I would certainly avoid ones from the models affected; that may be moot as they are about 3x the cost of the Gen...

Re: Arduino Libraries Rant

As a hobbyist, not even a competent one in some regards, I got so frustrated with the Arduino cr@p hiding everywhere I went back to building only Python based electronics projects. This despite the fact they take more resources and are slower to execute.
