Re: A word of caution - grenaded motor!

Thank you for the offer. I am in the process of getting a gen3 160 kW stack with zombieverter instead. Matches well with my other equipment (i3 lim, vw heater, chevy heater, ISA, etc...)

Re: A word of caution - grenaded motor!

I have now added fwcurmax derating at 110% * fmax This would need testing with low voltage and a low value for fmax. Anyone volunteer? I don't have the setup right now I am trying to get hold of a new motor + inverter right now. I have my old 30V test rig complete with relays and a pedal ready to g...

A word of caution - grenaded motor!

As noted in the firmware rev 5.20r+ be very careful when revving the motor without load or other safeties in place. I just grenaded my leaf motor/inverter and possibly also the coupling when revving in neutral gear to double check an imbalance I thought i sensed when test driving. I was used to be a...

Re: Leaf motor not spinning after update 4.77r -> 5.24r

Ok. I have the throttle wired directly into the inverter, totally cut off from the vechicle ECU. The Vehicle ECU still remains intact though. I will feed it with basic parameters later to get power steering etc fully functioning, as others have done. I have an Arduino DUE with CANDUE addon, managing...

Re: Leaf motor not spinning after update 4.77r -> 5.24r

The throttle is the usual 5v deal (original rx-8), not CAN. Throttle works exactly as before according to logs.

Build page has been down prioritised in favor of building ;) I have two years worth of build pictures and data ready though, I hope I will get around posting it soon...

Re: Leaf motor not spinning after update 4.77r -> 5.24r

Yes I raised the rear of the car and spun the wheels by hand in first gear. See image "manual turn". Feedback is rather choppy as expected but angle changes when the wheel is turned. I tried giving some throttle in neutral. Just the slightest nudge in angle with every throttle input, then ...

Leaf motor not spinning after update 4.77r -> 5.24r

Hello all, it has been quite a long time since my last post. I finished the hardware part of my build a few months ago (leaf motor with Johannes gen2/rev3 board and i3 battery in mazda rx-8) I got the car running and driving with the "factory supplied" 4.77r firmware and basic parameters. ...

Getting good contact to aluminium is a tricky business. Agreed, this is my main concern. Then covered with glue coated heat shrink tube to reduce ingress of moisture. Water ingress is one of my major concerns for the whole project. I've seen some sort of aluminium specific rust inhibitor goop espec...

Re: Volvo XC90 from Sweden

More or less all of the swedish roads south of road E14 gets carpet bombed by salt every winter. We trade road safety against corroded and extremely dirty cars. To get the car clean in winter you have to spray the whole car with industrial strength degreaser, it really is nasty. Used volvo XC90 for ...

Nicely done! Your battery boxes look very similar to mine (Still haven't documented my work here.. :( ). I use BMW i3 battery modules which have more or less the same form factor as the soul modules. The engine bay of the FRS/GT86 looks luxuriously spacious compared to my RX8 build. I could only dre...

WTB: 19418-0026 connector (molex 12-pin for tesla gen2 charger) [SOLD]

Hi all

The 12-pin connector 19418-0026 for the tesla gen2 charger seems to be out of stock almost everywhere for the moment.

Do anyone of you have a leftover/spare connector that I could buy? Preferably in Europe to make shipping easier and cheaper.

Regards

Nice find! Thanks for sharing. Just bought a 24284603 for my conversion. Although I think the other part no's you mentioned are for charging the HV pack? If I look up those part no's I get units with what looks like a 2-pin connector for HVDC and one 4-pin connector for (presumably) AC and proximity...

I just got it all working, default motor settings were WAY off. I thought the Leaf board came with nissan motor settings pre-flashed. Assumption is the mother of all fuck-ups. Changed to Leaf settings from wiki and its revs silky smooth without errors

Thanks for the heads up, will install update!

Hello Oskar!

Are you based in the Stockholm area? In that case I could probably swing by and have a look. Maybe we could collaborate? I have my Leaf motor turning since yesterday (but with errors, probably from parameter settings/using only 60v test pack voltage)
