Re: Battery packs with 3p
the 2p/3P is irrelevant..... its dependant on the rating form the manufacturer or how far your willing to push them (tesla push the original 1860's way beyond Panasonic spec)... I would worry on more practical things like what will fit.. will i be overweight... where can i fit my motor?

Re: DIY Economiser for OEM Contactors
I haven't played with the voltage method however on the bench I have been playing on the bench with the resistor value to get the duty cycle down and increasing the full on time to reduce contactor bounce when at very low battery voltages (10v for terminally flatt 12v battery)... However it may beco...

NC500 very cool, coolplates are defo a unicorn item for diy because of their cost, ive always wondered if an al sheet heat-sink and those pc cooler-plates would be enough, obs middle modules beneath the cooler-plate would be coolest/hotest, however with the al sheet there should be enough heat condu...

Re: Outlander VCU - Rear inverter, Charger and BMS
Am I understanding this thread correct you are able to command 280Nm from the stock inverter? I assume that means that you are exceeding the stock 60kw power output? Or is it just hitting 60kw at lower rpm? (I assume current is recorded from the shunt?)

Re: Replacing the VW BMU aka implementing high level BMS functions
I would, keep things simple and not bother with degregagtion calculation all you really want is soc calculation based on resting voltage and have a fall back where ah are used when voltage isn't possible e.g. motorway drive. a variable for battery ah is all that is needed and as we can record ah use...

Re: Replacing the VW BMU aka implementing high level BMS functions
You really going to go all out with 4.2v/cell seems quite a bit more than the 4.1v we are used to but I guess if the OEM does it it's probably ok Not sure I would want to push it that far daily.

Re: 1984 Voltswagen Rabbit Prius Gen 3
well done greg, getting the bits with the leftover bit of harnesses will save you quite a bit, its surprising how quickly the cost of those damn little plugs start to add up, plus the time taken for trying to find the Chinese knockoffs. For the shielded HV cables for the motors, if don't get luckly ...

Re: L210 gearbox
To my understanding is that field weakening is effectively like making the motor act like a generator to make more voltage... However this is very difficult to control and a very bad idea in a generator (you only have to look at some of the oi simulator stuff to realise what weird thing it is). I th...

Re: L210 gearbox
We are deffo getting a 1+1=5 with the voltages here... The reason for the boost inverter is basically so the motor doesn't do field weakening, particularly the generator. Based on the numbers so far you boost to 600v and you still have to field weakening to get it to 14k rpm top speed of the cars. W...

Re: Cheap Tesla Shunts (£24)
My advice is to get an ISA shunt, even at full price they are worth every penny... But if you wait around normally someone starts selling them cheap from time to time (keep eye on DIY electric also). I did a design with isolated dcdc and an spi isolator chip using a wemos D1 for can however I couldn...

has anyone got there project V5c changed lately? I have 2 suspicions for the stalling of issuing v5's both of which could be true...
