Re: Leaf BMS with other battery packs
For monitoring, yes, for Charge control it would likely be suboptimal; for balancing, but for Isaac's comment above I'd have said it should be fine, but I'm not acquainted with the nuance he suggests.

Re: Wanted leaf 24kW battery pack.
Long shot, i know. I am looking for a battery pack, BMS, Charger and charge port and cabling from a nissan leaf to finish my conversion. Ideally from Ireland. I said i would ask on here first before going further afield. I would also concider all of the above from other makes. 🤞🤞🤣 I have a BMS here...

Re: Sanity check - power brick testing
Method was the problem - one brick so far definitely blown, but one testing perfectly. Have 3 more to recover from the boards they're on now.
Missing ingredient was the fault outputs which I'd been ignoring - if they don't have VD on them, then the related stage won't function reliably.

Re: Sanity check - power brick testing
Yeah, they're a fine piece of kit alright and would be great if I can verify that any of them are still good. Yes, Isolated power to each high side phase, common rail on the low side; and yes, pull down to gate. Agreed, FO is an open collector arrangement, haven't probed them but can easily put a Sc...

Re: Different Nissan Leaf packs (24, 30, 40, 62 kWh)
Now bringing this up again since it kindof turning spring. Does the 40 kWh BMS talk the same CAN language as the 24/30 kWh one? Because I read you need to do some CAN spoofing to fit a 40 pack in a 24 Leaf. Nope, 40kWh LBC won't talk to the legacy VCM. Requires a MITM. Muxsan and EV's Enchanced hav...

Sanity check - power brick testing
I have a PM300CLA060 3ph power brick here - one of many from a collection of Vectrix motor controller boards each in varying states of 'knackered'. I'm trying to test one of the bricks on the bench here to see if there's any life in it - now, for context, this one is from an MC which died a fiery de...

Re: Leaf hardware with batteries from another car?
It is if you intend to use the stock VCM - it won't engage the Battery contactor block without say-so from the LBC.
That means no go, and no charging.

Re: Leaf hardware with batteries from another car?
At a hardware level, I can't think of any reason why the Leaf BMS wouldn't play nice with the Golf modules (or anything else assuming the NCM voltage range). In terms of software though there will be a lot of nuance, particularly if you're expecting to use that BMS directly with the rest of the leaf...

Yeah this is a total ball ache - I tried for quite a while to try and get some leaf modules shipped but getting setup is a serious effort and requires some proper commitment. Couldn't get anywhere without VAT registration either.

Re: Leaf Gen1 battery swap
I've done the 40kWh swap into a Gen1 as well.
Used the Muxsan MITM hardware to support it.
Half a day's work tops and well worth the effort.
Wrote a thread on the point here: viewtopic.php?p=8275

Re: Different Nissan Leaf packs (24, 30, 48, 62 kWh)
The 62 kWh pack would take up more space, I would probably only fit 16 modules under the car and would have to find space for the extra 8 ones. The Leaf e+ has the suspension revised to achieve this - it rides higher and has some slightly different lower trim to make up for the point. The chassis i...

Re: Ebay Auctions Of Interest
It could be alright, and give the age of the pack and the general stability of those cells it might even have been probable.
Surprised to hear it sold that fast at that price.

Re: Nissan Leaf BMS
- from 1% - 20% SOC the LBC sets the kW on charge to non-zero value, mostly on 55kW. Then at round 20% SOC it (always) sets the kW charge to zero, so my charger stops :-( Can't explain that - that's strange. - Around 85% SOC it tapers the kW charging power from 55kW down and finally to zero kW, so ...

Re: Nissan Leaf BMS
Yeah it's an asymptotic curve, as you approach the true SOC the rate at which you approach drops off exponentially. It's a not a problem in any practical sense after a couple of thousand km though. In my first swap I took out a pack at 63%SoH and replaced it with a pack at 92% according to its own L...

Re: Nissan contactors 'welded' shut ??
Yup, I've fused a couple of those myself. Inrush to a fairly serious filter circuit did mine (Hybrid inverter charger). I ran it with an without precharge (10A) with the same result after about 3 activations. They simply do not like being closed before you have the voltage equalised across them. Doe...
