In fairness to you, there were videos about both, on the same channel, released fairly close to each other.

Re: DC Fastcharging via CCS2 for Renault Twizy BMS

I saw a video about how the Rivian truck actually changes the batteries from parallel to serial to up the voltage for fast charging and then switches back to increase capacity.

I would have fairly easy access to the batteries so I was wondering about the feasibility of doing that as well ...

Re: Bunky the eBug: A 30 Day EV Conversion

I know I'm a bit late to the party, but I did want to point out some concern with the coolant pump. It does look a little different from the Prius ones that have been the bane of my existence, but similar enough that I want to flag it - I've had nothing but problems with Toyota pumps, especially but ...

Re: OI 8HP TCU Project

I had a gap in work today and decided to do some digging to hopefully be helpful on this project.

First, it does appear from what I can find that this is essentially the same transmission used in the Jeep Wrangle 4xe PHEV and the Grand Cherokee 4xe PHEV (not the e-torque mild hybrid of either). For ...

I will also have a look at those. Let's hope they work on performance LDU with the sole goal of running on a teststand.

Yes, a base tune will work in a sport/performance LDU. The sport version just allows you to turn up the power, which I've mostly done by raising fslipmax and lowering fweak ...

Yes they are generic default. I assumed that they would work as a starting point for further tuning.

I think, but don't know, that this is or is highly related to, the transmission used in the Jeep Wrangler 4xe here in the States. Having an OI solution for it would be awesome.

I haven't done much digging, but I understand there are some aftermarket controllers out there for the regular 8HP. I ...

Re: [DRIVING] 1940 Chevrolet with Tesla Motor

Should we group buy a block of mac addresses from ieee?
Could also buy a $2 wifi usb adapter, take the MAC address and recycle it. (I think..)

For the purposes of getting access to the Supercharger network, I don't think that helps us. We need a MAC address in the block of addresses that their ...

Assuming someone else MAC address and thus the derived right to charge, or worst yet billing to them when you charge should be avoided at all costs.

As I understand it, the powerline communications interface has a MAC. I assume they're doing MAC lookup to fingerprint the vehicle. (I think that's how Autocharge works.) I assume each OEM has a separate block of MACs they program into the PLC controller, but I have never tried to verify that ...

Why keep the torque damper? My understanding is that there's no fluid flow to/from the transmission, so why not just remove it and put a blockoff plate over the bellhousing?

Re: [DRIVING] 1940 Chevrolet with Tesla Motor

Well the '40 decided to be a pain this weekend. I decided to stop stalling on the battery heat, and just put the firewall back in and work on that later. The plan was that I would then take her out for some testing of a CCS-NACS adapter and see how well FOCCCI does with it. I needed to charge the ...

Also, I have heard before, never straight cut axles you intend to seam. Cut them at 45. That way if they snap off in the sleeve, they're still constrained.

I will note from experience that even if cut on a 45 and sleeved, you may not realize they have broken until they punch out the wall of the ...

Anything to look for as far as Chevy Bolt batteries or model 3 batteries? Year? Size? Chemistry?

Re: The Rusty S10

I've said for a while now that with EV conversion batteries right now its a classic 3 criteria, you get to pick 2 situation:
Low Cost
High Power Capability
High Energy Capacity (range)

The Volt batteries are low cost, high power, low energy capacity. There are good number of options that are low ...

Re: The Rusty S10

As someone who has used several Volt packs (originally built the '40 with two 1st gen and then swapped for two 2nd gen), I'd caution against it. They are good for what they are good at (very tolerant of high power demands, for relatively cheap) but they are a bear to fit into a car, have been finiky ...
