Re: Bench setup for stm32-sine development

I decided not to worry about the flywheel for now. I've rigged up my encoder to the motor using 3D printed brackets and pulleys. I've also now got the remaining connectors needed to hook up the Prius inverter control board, so hopefully I can get it up and running soon. I'm rather unsure how to use...

Re: Show me your cooling and heating setup (i want to gather this for the wiki)

I'm still very happy with my TEC heater/cooler after many years.
Using tesla model S batteries and original cooling loop.

So in the 75kWh pack =>
14modules * 25.2Vmax per module = 352.8Vmax per pack
Imax = 352.8V / 23ohm = 15.34A
So the the pre-charge contactor would just need to handle 15.3A peak. Correct?
Yes, looks sane to me. If the capasitors is seen as full short?

Re: Tesla Charger alternative firmware

There's a few different ways to do it! The simplest, I think, is to route L1 to all 3 modules by default (for single phase operation) - that can be done with a single DPDT relay. Then the charger works in single phase mode as normal, so CP current limit divided by 3 to each module. This relay can b...

Re: New BMS for bq76PL455A based batteries

I hav struggled with the same noise problems, with isolating comm just with capasitors. It is not a good solution in noisy enviroment! It's to high impedanse, and that is bad in noisy enviroment. You want low impedance opto coupler, or a digital isolator. This is used on the tesla battery boardit is...

Re: Kilovac contactor has a high resistance

I would not trust it, trow it away! A contactor should always show 0 ohm, if it's closing properly, with right voltage and working economizer. You say you could use the economizer on the other contactor, then you could try to bypass the economizer and connect 12V directly on the Kilovac coil? Just f...

You must put pulldown on the STM chip!!
And it's not pin13 is pin2.

Can someone scope the chain? STM32 pin, uln pin, I'm out of lab for a while I got the same problem with high impedance load. Could be "crosstalk" but not sure? A 10k pulldown worked for me. Also very important to have 12V all time on COM of the ULN chip!!! Measurements: OUT_DCSW PC13 comi...

Re: Voltage threshold for balancing

I think balancing before 3.95V is a waste of energy. I also think cells should never be discharged lower than 3.0V per cell. But what if I always charge to 80%, when should I then balance? (I usually charge to 4.00V, and they rest at about 3.95V) So what you actually mean is I should charge to high...

Re: Voltage threshold for balancing

I start top balancing 3.8V, but it depends on the quality of cells, the size of bleed resistors.. You should also consider if you want to charge them to 100% all the time, if you charge to 80-90%, you may have to start balancing at lower voltage. If your batteries need much balancing, then they need...

Is that the original Ford/Toyota (Panasonic) NiMh batteries?
If not you will have trouble with the dimensions, pole fitting and placement.
