Re: Battery preheating on ID.4 / MEB

Thanks for sharing this control info.
I implemented it in our LIN to CAN gateway and it works like a charm.

One finding from my end (relevant for EV Conversions): It self regulates when it reaches about 50 degrees.
So perfect and safe and sufficient for a battery heater (yet not suitable as an ...

Re: Simp BMS

why now?

I'm not 100% sure but my theory is:
They share the same 5V rail and due to slight voltage differences in the 5V USB voltage and the Teensy 5V regulator voltage, weird currents can occur. If the USB voltage is slightly lower the Teensy will try to 'charge' the laptop but that port is not ...

Re: Simp BMS

Myself I think this as “as per Teensy design”.
Hence the note on the Teensy card

Years ago I learned it the hard way with my Teensy 3.6.
Not sure what exactly is happening if you don’t cut the trace but high current from the laptop for sure.

Re: Simp BMS

That is a Teensy thing.
Sorry to hear that happened.
You either need to cut the Vin trace on a Teensy or use a modified USB cable.

Re: For sale: Volkswagen ID.3 CCS2 port

Attached you will find a photo of the control harness that is included / part of the inlet.
And yes, the lock motor is included.
I think this is the harness up to connector T16g.
Ultimately it plugs into the OBC via a coupling point. These parts I do not have but I can include a print of the ...

Re: MG PTC Cabin Air Heater

First of all thanks to Damien for doing the hard work on finding the ID's and Alibro for the logs. Today I played around with my MG PTC heater.
It is all Damien said +:

Re: Nissan Leaf Stack not getting revs underload

A boat is a different game compared to a car.
In a car at some point you will start reducing throttle because you go fast enough already and get scared.
In a boat you can (and even need to) apply (full) throttle to retain your speed. Thus there is a higher current for a longer period of time. This ...

Re: Nissan Leaf Stack not getting revs underload

Likely because the Zombiverter is better at trying to protect your cells.
In the Leaf demo you are seeing a serious undervoltage error of 2,7V.

IMG_6458.jpeg

Since the lowest voltage before load was around 3,6V this indicates the pack is really shitty. Allowing the cells to go down that low ...

Re: Nissan Leaf Stack not getting revs underload

Your truth, but... The Leaf system is running smoothly.

Smoothly?
A 400+ mV delta does sound like a weak pack or at least weak cell to me.

Delta 453 mV.png

But if you are seeing a voltage sag of 80V at 300V that is not good.
Then you are allowing the inverter to draw way to much current.
So ...
