I'd measure the difference in power draw between buck converter vs direct. In general lower consumption would mean less heat, so more reliable. OTHO you're introducing another point of failure, if it fails open that is.

I think the web interface is a bit intimidating (not that I've actually worked with it...). Maybe hide a few of the more obscure settings behind an "Advanced" toggle? E.g. the all the charger bits when looking at https://openinverter.org/wiki/Parameters

Just had a couple of goes. But I think the phone gps is a bit laggy, got pretty much bang on 11 seconds according to Torque pro.
