Re: Info on BMW hybrid battery packs?

Hey 24 kWh battery hackers, I've tried adding the details to the Wiki: https://openinverter.org/wiki/BMW_Hybrid_Battery_Pack#Technical_Specifications and https://openinverter.org/wiki/Batteries#OEM_modules @nkiernan, since you have it open (https://openinverter.org/forum/viewtopic.php?p=68794#p68794...

Bertram, you're hardly a newbie with a Tesla-swapped van! Even if you didn't do it yourself, can you do a "build" thread with pictures etc.? It should interest a lot of people, starting with 5 from my family...

Re: Mitsubishi Outlander PHEV heater

So the consensus is Arduino's don't like 14.4V and cheap Chinese buck converters may not be reliable. I'm not surprised at the answers so will follow your advice and come up with a better solution. Just found my Digikey order, I'm using an isolated one on the motorbike for the Lebowski/Honda IMA to...

Re: Mitsubishi Outlander PHEV heater

I'd measure the difference in power draw between buck converter vs direct. In general lower consumption would mean less heat, so more reliable. OTHO you're introducing another point of failure, if it fails open that is.

Is that a hard limit (i.e. the OEM inverter ignores it) or just to stay in spec?

Haven't come across it, but it's definitely interesting. Can you post more detailed pictures, e.g. with some of the components? I'd cross-post on ES, it's more likely to be picked up by the likes of Roger and Bas - https://endless-sphere.com/sphere/threads/yet-another-lebowski-honda-ima-inverter-ste...

I think the web interface is a bit intimidating (not that I've actually worked with it...). Maybe hide a few of the more obscure settings behind an "Advanced" toggle? E.g. the all the charger bits when looking at https://openinverter.org/wiki/Parameters

+1 on that, just wish I painted more of our classic Mini with it. Still, underbody, floors, rear parcel shelf and subframe held up very nicely - small 1.25l kit.

I'm using a triplet of Meanwell HLG's for ~140V, lower current though. Working fine for years now, but make sure you're in the regulation range.

Wouldn't be that massive - the Kelly is 150A battery / 300A phase and the motor has some headroom for a voltage upgrade down the line.
It's likely bulkier though.

Re: [DRIVING] Opel Omega B2 + GS450H (the "EVOmega")

Have you considered replacing LA with 6S LTO? These are now available (EU) and rated to -40°C. Very little capacity loss at -25°C ! Only downsides I see is the odd form factor (if OEM location) and high weight. 2P6S is similar to a "60AH" starter battery (12 ss 16/17kg), not that they'd be...

Re: Jaguar XJ6 V12 will be electric!!!

The inverter has arrived, now waiting for the Zombiverter and getting ready to start tinkering. I need to find the batteries; I was thinking about 40-50kWh, but it raises a question. I know the Gs450h can operate from 288V; initially, I was planning to go with 400V to make all components more compa...

Nice!
Where are you hiding the batteries currently?
Also I think you should beef up the small connecting wires, they look like they are 6mm2 max.

Re: [Driving] MG F - Outlander Rear motor and inverter.

Just had a couple of goes. But I think the phone gps is a bit laggy, got pretty much bang on 11 seconds according to Torque pro. In terms of battery draw, it seemed to pull a max of 225 amps from the BMW hybrid pack. Awesome! I'd love to see a video of this. Gen 1 Leaf does 0-60 in 11 seconds, also...

Hah! That figures! I used Lebowski in sensorless and i guess it is way more sensitive. thenk you for that info. I will test this with HSG and 360Vdc sometime when i assemble Lebowski board again. +1 on this - I have highlighted that in my how-to: https://endless-sphere.com/sphere/threads/yet-anothe...
