Re: Linux-Infotag Augsburg 2024
I think we will have the chance over the complete saturday. Personnally I plan to arrive around 10 in the morning, we have a desk with some demonstrations.

Re: Use ESP32 Web interface also as GVRET CAN device?
Wifican is not detectable when Pin 35 pulled HIGH.. You can check the following. While still connected with the cable to the arduino IDE, open the serial monitor in the Arduino IDE. Press the reset button on the board. You should see some logging in the serial monitor. wifiMode1 .... WifiMode is 's...

Re: Charging one battery from another as an alternative to parallel packs.
As I understand, the OBCs are step-up-converters, they are able to make a power-factor-correction, following the sinus input voltage of e.g. 0 to 330V and boost it to e.g. 400V battery voltage. Not sure, because our nominal voltage of 230V AC are ~320V peak voltage, and my empty battery has 300V, so...

Re: Use ESP32 Web interface also as GVRET CAN device?
For debugging your setup, you could add the data base file (dbc) of the "virtual" debug messages into SavvyCAN. This file is here: https://github.com/uhi22/wifican/blob/main/wifican_development.dbc This allows you to see how long the wifican is running (wificanAliveCounter is counting up),...

Re: Charging one battery from another as an alternative to parallel packs.
What about using two buck-boost converters back-to-back, to allow both batteries have any voltage, and the software can select in which direction the current flows. Would allow to use any pack as "range extender", no matter of the nominal voltage or capacity or state-of-charge.

Re: Use ESP32 Web interface also as GVRET CAN device?
@Jacobmess, thankyou for this info!! This was my problem. The Wifican password is "topsecret" and not my home network password. So once the "credentials.h file has been modified with local your wifi details", load the sketch and connect to the new "wifican network" usi...

In this log, the best checkpoint number what we see is the 102, this is at the very beginning of the SLAC procedure. image.png For me this looks like that the communication on the CP line is nearly impossible, we only sporadically see a response from the charger. This is much worse than the other te...

Re: Use ESP32 Web interface also as GVRET CAN device?
I never used debugging in Arduino, so regarding openocd I have no idea. Tried a workflow: 1. Create a new folder C:\Sketchfolder 2. Open in a browser https://github.com/uhi22/wifican 3. Green Button "Code", choose "Download zip". This creates a wifican-main.zip in the downloads f...

Re: Use ESP32 Web interface also as GVRET CAN device?
You write "Add zip library", this sounds wrong. You need to get the sources from github, either using git clone, or downloading as zip from github. If you chose the zip download, unzip the project, and the unzipped folder IS your sketch folder. Just "open sketch" and select the f...

Re: Manual discharge of a 60v pack
If your goal is, that multiple packs have the same voltage at the end, you could connect all minus of the packs together, and between the plus some resistor. And just wait, they will balance perfectly. I do not know your voltage difference, but if this is just below 15V, you can simply use 12V lamps...

Re: Am I to dumb for Open Inverter
With these kind of connectors it is easy to plug them 2.54mm next to the intended position, in every direction. Maybe this could cause some unintended current pathes.

Re: QCA7000 Foccci+Clara User thread
That's half-way good news. Details here: https://github.com/uhi22/clara-logs#2024-04-11_clara_phiphong_doug The communication is established, we run until the CableCheck loop, but after three cable check loops, the charger decides to not respond anymore. Normally, if the charger sees a problem in th...

Re: Use ESP32 Web interface also as GVRET CAN device?
The switch is intended to select between "at home" (where the device connects to the home wifi) and "outside" where the device creates an own hotspot where the laptop can connect. Maybe this can be replaced by a kind of auto-detection or both-in-one, but for testing I found it be...

Re: First-Time Config of FOCCI And CCS1 vehicle charging
So only send these values if there is a change to be made? When you change your battery, yes. And most likely you will not "send" them, you use the web interface (or command line tool) to configure them and write them into flash, so they will be there "forever". The charge curre...

Re: First-Time Config of FOCCI And CCS1 vehicle charging
"1) Set MAX params, inlet voltage src, target, etc... before connection to charger" --> The max parameters and inlet voltage source are "parameters", in the sense that you configure them once when you build everything together, you save them into flash, and there they will be the...

Re: Develop a QCA7000 board?
I do not see the boost converter in the picture. As long as the lower switch is on, the current through the L rises. If the lower switch is off, the current keeps running via the upper diode or upper switch, the voltage is only rised by the forward voltage of the upper diode in worst case. Everythin...

Re: Nissan Leaf Gen3 Drop-in board
Thanks for these deep insights. The split termination indeed reduces the common-mode disturbances, which could be helpful in noisy environments. With the cost, that it needs well-matched resistors to avoid translating the common-mode-noise to differential noise, which would be worse. So yes, it is t...

High precision CAN termination looks overengineered. The harness will have much more tolerance of the cable impedance, 10% is no problem.

From the video linked above, took the audio, loaded it into Audacity (a really nice free audio processing tool), and see a quite stable tone at around 11kHz. Personally I cannot hear it, but it is clearly there. The frequency is stable, and the tone has some gaps. Would have been nice to see the spe...
