22kwh for 132kg sounds pretty good. The BMW modules sound like a good bet - but I need a higher nominal voltage.
At any rate this all sounds promising so I’ll ping my shipper and see how adventurous they are feeling

Re: 2024 Best battery: 100kg limit
This is why I posted the question - one seems to need to compromise somewhere. Given the fact that I am going for a hybrid setup, I should probably just look for the best hybrid battery I can find since I won't be able to build anything better than a large OEM engineering team. @m.art.y how much doe...

Re: 2024 Best battery: 100kg limit
Voltage range 300v-400v.
Not counting housing.
I think if I can get 15kwh I'll be happy.
Thanks for the link, I'll check it out!

Re: BMW i3 drop in boards
Johu, I have looked, but am unable to find an answer. Could I somehow use this board to control an i3 generator motor to use it as a range extender? I see two possibilities - 1. This board is compatible with the generator inverter, so just use that Or 2. This board is only compatible with the tracti...

Re: Leaf Precharge Circuit: Identifying parts
Thanks johu, this is very helpful. So if I have got this right, the means of controlling the contactors is via the plug labeled (8) above. I have found a wiki page that relates to this contactor box here - https://openinverter.org/wiki/HV_Contactor_Box - but it's poorly named and could do with an up...

What is (8) for? Safe to ignore?
Edit: fixed johu's name, which had autocorrected to John!

Leaf Precharge Circuit: Identifying parts
Hello, I have a leaf precharge circuit, and I'm trying to figure out how to wire it up, and how to control it. I have looked through the forum and through the wiki and can't find much, so I thought I'd ask here and make the answers into a wiki page. I don't have access to an actual Leaf to see how t...

What do you need an Outlander HV Junction box for?
Hello. I am very slowly sifting through the parts I bought from Zapatero's e-Mpreza build. One thing I found is this box. My googling tells me it's an Outlander HV junction box. When I open it up it looks like the HV cables go right through it via solid bars, and the orange cable has 3 wires coming ...

Could I ask what an OI board is? I’ve been trying to follow along - very interesting - but I can’t get a full understanding because I can’t figure out what an OI board is.

Re: How to reset the Zombieverter
Aha! Well, that makes things simpler for sure. I've pulled the module off of the board - the model name is MOD-WiFi-ESP8266 Rev B. That is, it is commonly referred to as an Olimex board on this forum. A little bit of digging, and I have come to the conclusion that I need to re flash this board with ...

How to reset the Zombieverter
Hello. I have tried searching, but am not getting an answer so I thought I'd create a new topic. I have received a secondhand ZombieVerter from a builder on this forum. When I attach 12v and ground, I see the Zombie's (customised) SSID come up on my WiFi list. So I know _something_ is happening. But...

Re: Rear Drive Unit Continuous Rating?
FWIW it looks to me like the Outlander rear drive unit and Netgain Hyper9 are really close to each other in terms of power output - about 35Kw continuous, 85Kw peak. So if you’ve seen a vehicle with a Hyper9 installed, there’s a good chance the Outlander unit will be able to move it as well.

arber333, have you documented your wiring diagrams anywhere? I am currently trying to figure out how to wire up my outlander rear drive unit on the bench and would love to plagiarise it

Re: [WIP] 1973 VW 1303S
To answer your question, an outlander rear drive unit at 300VDC be good for 185Nm from 0 to ~4000rpm. This is not my real world experience, it is from the wiki. To give you a bit of a comparison, a Golf 3 GTI peaks at 175Nm, at 2000rpm. You should expect strictly better performance from the outlande...

Thanks tom91, yup, I've thought about the knee point, my understanding is it's about 4000rpm, and I'll be safe at that speed in 4th.

Re: VW T5 Hybrid
If you're wondering about appropriate diff ratios, the GoWesty hybrid used a Hyper9 mated directly to a T3 front differential. That's 233Nm, on a 5.43 ratio, and apparently it happily moves 1800kg at quite a pace. Eyeballing the T5 4motion drive train, I'm wondering if an Outlander rear unit is the ...

Ok, here is the math, for the benefit for anyone who searched for ‘VW T3 Syncro energy efficiency’ I’m running quite large 15 inch tyres, diameter 28.5 inches, diff ratio for a syncro is 5.43 Continuous expected speed 100km/h Wheel revolutions per km 743 Vehicle weight 1900kg Frontal area 3.06m2 Dra...
