What are those requirements do you know them?

Re: Do I need to weld if using Gen3 MG2 only

But the internal oil pump is connected to the input shaft. Thus, locking it disables the pump. If you weld the PSD, then the input shaft, MG1 and MG2 rotate together.

This paper (https://www.mdpi.com/2032-6653/13/3/51) specifies around 3mH for Ld and 5mH for Lq for the gen3 Prius motor.

Yes, that is probably your problem. Just use the .hex files and you should see the LED blinking again ;)

Re: Prius Gen 3 Inverter Logic Board Support Thread

is it possible/likely the stm32 is damaged or locked somehow, and would replacing that IC (assuming i can get one) worth a try, or does the fact that it accepts a download not indicate this ? I’m pretty sure your STM32 is ok. When you reprogrammed it with stlink, are you using .bin or .hex files? ....

Re: Golf 2 with Prius Gen 3 Motor and Inverter

Hi Leon, any chance you can post a compiled version of your mg2 software, I wouldn’t mind giving it a test on my rx400h mg2, I just don’t have the ability to compile, something I really should look at again but last time o looked at trying to compile stm32 in windows it was over my head! I attached...

I’m sorry, I got that mixed up with the 2-pole pair prius resolver – yes, the Kia motor uses a 4 pole pair resolver.

ok, been fiddling with this a few hours today, and now I get an angle from the resolver, but it seems to turn over from 365 to 0 several times in one axle revolution, and that doesnt seem right? The angle refers to the electrical angle, not the mechanical angle of the axle. Thus, it is possible and...

Gratulation :) Thanks Very large milestone. Did Ulrich Siebold do the inspection? Where are you located? He currently isn’t available, but one of his colleagues familiarized himself with the approval process and subsequently approved the Golf. I am lucky that Göttingen is my daily commute and the T...

Re: Golf 2 with Prius Gen 3 Motor and Inverter

Today I picked up the Golf at TÜV Göttingen, it is now fully approved :). This meant I could also grab the (good working, but probably not final) parameter files. Those should only be used in conjunction with the custom firmware that you can find here: https://github.com/BraunsCNC/stm32-sine-prius3 ...

According to the last image, you connected Enc1 to Cos. I think it needs to be Enc1 to Sin and Enc2 to Cos (the labels are correct, the text right beside it is not.

Re: Golf 2 with Prius Gen 3 Motor and Inverter

I did a calibration of the inverter temperature sensor and now MG2 can deliver 400A easily and temperatures keep below 40°C while driving. At temperatures above 100°C, the inverter trips out on its own so the calibration seems about right. At high syncadv (around 25), the inverter is able to push a ...

Re: Golf 2 with Prius Gen 3 Motor and Inverter

I have noticed JK BMS has a GND line on their CAN connection. Maybe this would require to be connected to a shield sock along the cable? GND on the JKBMS should be connected to the GND of your controller. It may be a differential signal, but high absolute voltage differences between the BMS module ...

Re: Golf 2 with Prius Gen 3 Motor and Inverter

A short update on the Golf: After trying out many different firmware variants, I am now not using any MTPA formula, but the idiqsplit firmware linked in one of the posts above. I haven’t had luck with any kind of field-weakening controller, but increasing syncadv above any reasonable value always ga...

Re: suggestions for the next release 5.17 -> 5.18

Thinking about my previous tests, I guess that it would have been best to use idiqsplit=0 to test the FW. Because id is only used for field weaking, it makes sense to leave it completely to the FW-controller and just define iq with the gas pedal. However, when I use idiqsplit=0, ud already maxes out...

Re: suggestions for the next release 5.17 -> 5.18

Yes, I can confirm that there is basically no effect. Whenever FW kicks into action, ud gets or is already maxed out. So even when switching fwkp around, between values of 0, 10 and 20, there is no difference noticeable. Only when getting to fkwp=30 (where ifw~120A), the rattle and oscillations star...

Re: suggestions for the next release 5.17 -> 5.18

I tried again with idiqsplit down to 20% and fwkp up to 400. There is no change in the behavior, ifw still maxes out at 4 and everything is oscillating heavily. fwki=0 for all tests, as even in standstill any value above 0 causes some rattling in the motor. Below are examples with fwkp=100 and fwkp=...

Thanks for the plot. I'm assuming it's with the last firmware 5.23.B? I don’t know the version number, but it was the firmware before the sqrt fix. I just tried the newest firmware with the fix. First I wanted to optimize syncofs and syncadv: I started with syncadv = 0. I accelerated normally to va...

Thanks for the quick update. So it dumped out the maximum possible iq command. That's why it must have been so exciting! Re: suggestions for the next release 5.17 -> 5.18

What had you set syncadv to? Syncadv was set to 10. As the FW controller only adds additional Id while keeping the total current constant, one should be able to simulate it by increasing idiqsplit at higher speeds? I have tried that several times with various values, but never came close to the pow...

Re: suggestions for the next release 5.17 -> 5.18

I tried out the new FW at fwkp=10 and fwki=0 with my Gen 3 Prius drivetrain. It created some amazing torque and when I tried to slow the car down, the inverter pulled twice as many amps from the battery than I have ever been able to. Then something tripped out and contactors started to rattle. Every...

Re: Golf 2 with Prius Gen 3 Motor and Inverter

There also seems to be a bug in the software: I found the problem(s): First of all, changing pinswap only goes into action after fully restarting the inverter, not only manually stopping and starting it like I have done. Makes sense, probably would do stupid things otherwise. But secondly, this is ...
