Re: i3 controller hacking from diyelectriccar.com

Interesting! So the resolver is not connected via the main connector? I mean in BMW OEM design. What are the other signals? Congratulations on your compacting work :) The motor seems to have 2 temp sensors which are blue-gray and red-gray which are 7-8 and 9-10 on the adapter card and I have connec...

Re: i3 controller hacking from diyelectriccar.com

The 12-pin connector from the resolver / motor temp that connects to the BMW brainboard, is the ERNI MiniBridge Koshiri Messerleiste 12-pin, geared, SMT, Art-No. 294920 and it is available for purchase mounted on a handy adapter card. https://www.erni-x-press.com/en/artikel/kit/169219.html https://w...

Re: VW Touran powered by Nissan Leaf [FINISHED]

I will try to use a dishwasher flow heating element(15EUR) and run it on the HV battery 430V DC, a 12V circulation pump and a thermostat. I have used a similar solution as a pool heater, connected to solar panels that gave about 580V DC. https://www.ebay.de/itm/332717880553?hash=item4d7787f4e9:g:wQ8...

Re: i3 controller hacking from diyelectriccar.com

Some suggestions for inverters pending this project for a BMW i3 engine. Something cheap that makes it roll out of the garage? Max volt around 430v. Hope and believe in this openinverter project, but difficult to know about the time when it will be realized. The TPS61175PWPR is for example "Exp...

Re: i3 controller hacking from diyelectriccar.com

Hello all, I have been a long time admirer of the openinverter projects, and personally jumped in the deep end with an i3 about 1 year ago. Originally I thought that Damien stopping work the project had left my hopes of "open" control in the hands of an off the shelf inverter, but I disco...

Got some boards while I was away, one of them being the i3 adapter. Many improvements but still one issue 32V boost converter now works without overheating USART comms not disturbed when running SPI_CLK and SPI_MOSI now have a nice 5V swing All holes match Hopefully no more collisions with the encl...

Re: Inverter Firmware v5.05.R

I tested more today. The only way to mitigate the problem is to completely turn off regen when coming off throttle. The way I have it set up in my VCU is 4 regen levels, where level 1 completely disables off-throttle regen but brings in regen proportional to brake pedal pressure. So now I can quick...

Re: i3 controller hacking from diyelectriccar.com

I buy the first working BMW inverter brain card you get available. Am prepared with an iverter and motor in a car. Hope for your card. The BMW i3 often seems to be scrapped, probably due to the difficult-to-repair carbon fiber body and many engines are available at a good price. Here is a reverse-en...

Re: Hyundai Kona CCS controller

Yes sure. I've made up a cable assembly & been meaning to have a general play with the CAN sniffer but not quite got round to it - I've been on the lookout for a spare unit - there was a Kona being broken on ebay recently but the seller is asking stupid money for parts : https://www.ebay.co.uk/...

Re: i3 controller hacking from diyelectriccar.com

Some thoughts from a potential board buyer: The BMW motor is 12 pole and has a maximum speed of 11400Rev / min. My Bamocar D3 400-400 inverter does not allow too low PWM frequency at higher speeds, when I do an "auto setup". It has a variable PWM frequency depending on the speed and reduce...

Re: i3 controller hacking from diyelectriccar.com

Thanks Jack for the info on the revolver. I am also very interested in this project. I have a bmw i3 engine in a Renault grand senice. Right now I'm putting a Bamocar d3 400/400 inverter on it, but an original BMW inverter would be better and more powerful.
