Re: Fried olimex

Try going through the full set up again following ‘Step 3 (full)’ from the wiki at:
https://openinverter.org/wiki/Olimex_MOD-WIFI-ESP8266

This worked for me.

Re: Fried olimex

I switched to the Wemos WiFi adapter see https://openinverter.org/forum/viewtopic.php?p=47813#p47813 I haven’t had any problems with it but it’s only run on the bench so far. You’ll need to order up some adapter boards but they are very cheap. Files are in this post from Damien https://openinverter....

Thank you royhen99. Is this documented somewhere? I didn’t know the Zombieverter supported this onboard charger.

I just noticed that in the V2.01A release notes for the Zombieverter VCU software it says “Add Mitsubishi Outlander Phev Charger / DCDC. Re: The Hitchhiker's guide to Celeron55's iPDM56 VCU & automotive Arduinoing

If only red (+12V) and black (gnd) at my fingers are connected, shouldn’t the unit wake up and led glow? In a word yes. Double check the wiring and you should also be able to do continuity checks by following the circuits on the board back from the 12v + and - pins to the various components. Starti...

Re: Trouble contributing to Stm32-vcu

I feel pretty defeated, any effort spent seems to be a step backward. Yes, I think many of us have felt like that at times. It can seem overwhelming but if you take it step by step and test each step as you go you’ll get there. After reloading the bootloader as royhen99 says take a few minutes to t...

Re: Zombieverter no spot values showing

I am using a board from Damien purchased in November last year. I presume it has firmware pre-installed. not sure how to find that out? As it’s from Damien it should have the firmware pre-installed. Good luck tracking down the issues. I took ages getting mine set up. Go slow, be methodical, watch D...

Re: Lexus 12v DCDC converter

There must be a good reason why folks aren't using these in their conversions but they seem quite easy to set up - although I could well have missed something obvious. I've just got mine up and running on the bench. It works independently of the inverter with only four wires to connect: HV+ HV- Chas...

Which WiFi module are you using? I spent days trying to get the Olimex module to work reliably but never could. Switching to the Wemos one helped a lot.

Sending love to Damien. Stay with us mate we need you.

On my project I’ve hit loads of snags which, in the end, have been caused by my own ignorance or stupidity - nothing to do with the software or the hardware.

When i uploaded the file - it said update completed. The upload sequence caught me out a few times. What you see first is the upload complete message, then a progress bar with the % completed. Once this gets to 100% you then see the message update complete. Occasionally the process stalls and it ne...

Re: GS450H stops working

I’m just guessing here but it’d be worth checking tmphs isn’t too high and also that the brake signal isn’t switching on.

P.S. Also check that the inverter is getting a really good 12v supply. I’ve had problems switching it on when the 12v battery is a bit weak.

Re: Main contactor not closing ✅

Thanks uhi22, nkiernan and VWJoe - the problem is solved. It was the FET. I couldn’t get another one because everyone is out of stock until next month. I swapped it for IC25 which drives gpout2 and is currently not used for anything. The contactors are now working as expected and the system is power...

Re: Main contactor not closing

Thanks royhen99 and nkiernan for your suggestions. I’ve spent the morning tinkering but haven’t been able to fix it yet. First I checked my parameters: My HV test pack is around 86V udcmin = 72V udclim = 100V udcsw = 75V The ZombieVerter appears happy with these settings. Negative contactor and prec...

Main contactor not closing

Zombieverter VCU GS450h inverter and transmission I have my setup working on the bench now but the VCU isn’t closing the main contactor. The VCU powers up normally and when I apply the start signal the negative and precharge contactors close. UDC and INVudc come up and the VCU goes into RUN mode. Ho...

Re: Zombie & GS450h REQ/CLK/MTH/HTM resistance readings

OK - things are much better now. I have the transmission spinning smoothly and strongly. The problem was a weak 12v battery. I thought I’d covered this by also attaching a battery charger but that still wasn’t enough to keep the inverter happy. Supporting the battery with a power supply set to 13.5v...

Re: Zombieverter & GS450H Communication Issues Investigation

It could simply be a WiFi issue. If you using the Omilex WiFi module I suggest you switch to the Wemos mini D1. See this post from Damien viewtopic.php?p=46666#p46666.

This probably should be a new topic. Perhaps one of the admins could move it for you.

Yep, you’re right nkiernan I did have the transmission spinning but not consistently nor smoothly and now I have a problem which looks similar to yours. All the wiring checks out and the VUC goes into run mode but the inverter doesn’t turn on. Having reread your excellent thread I’ve been working th...

After a number of tests, it seems like this can relate to the voltage of the 12V system.
At which point would your DC/DC converter switch on? This should hold the low voltage system at about 14.5v which would keep the inverter happy.
