Re: MG Drive Unit Reverse Engineering
Do you have some basic dimensions for the drive unit? I'm wondering how easily it would fit in the subframe of a RWD car.

Re: Project RX-8 w/ GS450h Drivetrain
I tried it with a solid coupling, and the vibration was still there (albeit reduced)

Re: Niro / Kona PTC heater
I've been playing around with the heater with some success.
I got myself a 400v 1a power supply and that did the trick. It starts to work from ~250V
What i've got so far in terms of the understanding the data:
Messages 0x140 and 0x141 come from the heater.

That's a fair point. I'll do some design work and get back when i've figured something out.

Re: Project RX-8 w/ GS450h Drivetrain
My only other alternative would be to shorten the lexus shaft, but keeping the lexus end, and then have a coupler of some description which connects the rear of the shaft to the diff.

Re: Project RX-8 w/ GS450h Drivetrain
I understand the issue but there are a few mitigating circumstances, the main one being that the u-joint will almost never be at a different angle from its set angle as the diff angle doesn't change (much) in relation to the transmission owing to the PPF holding it in place.

Re: Project RX-8 w/ GS450h Drivetrain
I've got a gs450h prop shaft, and an mx-5 prop shaft.
I will chop the end off the gs450h shaft and put on the diff-end of the mx-5 shaft.
The gs450h has the slip joint in the middle which will solve one issue. I've no idea where i'll mount the middle section...but i'll figure it out.

Re: Project RX-8 w/ GS450h Drivetrain
Thanks. In addition to triple checking alignment, I've decided to try to source a gs450h shaft, and have it modified to fit the rx8 diff. As it has a centre bearing, it should help to reduce vibrations and offset the front-back movement issue. I chose not to go this route to begin with as there is ...

Flexdisk dimensions
Hi,
Does anyone have the dimensions of the gs450h flexdisk?
Or even better does anone have a CAD model of it, or perhaps a known after-market solution for a solid coupler?
I need to make a solid coupler for my application.
Thanks all
Steve

Project RX-8 w/ GS450h Drivetrain
Hi All,
I'll get around to documenting my setup at some point, but i'm currently in need of some help.
I'm testing my setup with the custom driveshaft/propsharg i've had made, and it's very unstable. Like a wet noodle. See the videos below.

Amazing. This is a great start, thanks. As soon as i get a chance I'll hook it up(after confirming the polarity!) and start sending some CAN. I'll report back my findings.

Does anyone know anything about the Kona / Niro ptc heater?

Re: Tesla-Powered Porsche 911 996
I've chosen to go with the ubiquitous stelantis 50kwh pack. This example came from a Citroen ec4. I picked it up for £1100 delivered. The lid is glued down so its a right pain to open.

So I've been working mainly on my RX8 project but haven't forgotten the Porsche. I've been focusing on trying to design a frame which will require no body modifications.

Re: Tesla-Powered Porsche 911 996
Well it's going to fit. There's no replacement for doing it for real so i got a friend to help test fit and plan some mounting strategies. There isn't a huge amount of space but there's enough, and plenty of options for mounting.

Lexus Rx450h MGRs for sale
Hi All,
I have three Lexus MGRs for sale from the Rx450h. I had planned a MINI conversion but that didn't pan out and I need to clear some space.
Would anyone be interested in them? I've also got a pair of drive shafts (cut mid-way) to include with one of them. They are in various states of ...
