Re: Niro / Kona PTC heater
Sitrep: This morning i took some logs from the the heater CAN bus on my 2020 Kona by tapping directly to the heater CAN. Attached are the logs. I powered up my test heater with 12v, and received the 0x140 and 0x141 message IDS from it, confirming that it's communicating, and confirming that the logs...

Re: Project RX-8 w/ GS450h Drivetrain
Thanks. In addition to triple checking alignment, I've decided to try to source a gs450h shaft, and have it modified to fit the rx8 diff. As it has a centre bearing, it should help to reduce vibrations and offset the front-back movement issue. I chose not to go this route to begin with as there is n...

Flexdisk dimensions
Hi,
Does anyone have the dimensions of the gs450h flexdisk?
Or even better does anone have a CAD model of it, or perhaps a known after-market solution for a solid coupler?
I need to make a solid coupler for my application.
Thanks all
Steve

Project RX-8 w/ GS450h Drivetrain
Hi All, I'll get around to documenting my setup at some point, but i'm currently in need of some help. I'm testing my setup with the custom driveshaft/propsharg i've had made, and it's very unstable. Like a wet noodle. See the videos below. This is the 2nd propshaft -- the first one was a modified r...

Re: Niro / Kona PTC heater
Amazing. This is a great start, thanks. As soon as i get a chance I'll hook it up(after confirming the polarity!) and start sending some CAN. I'll report back my findings.

Niro / Kona PTC heater
Does anyone know anything about the Kona / Niro ptc heater? Im weighing up my options for heating, and the Kona PTC heater is attractive as I have a Kona, so I can do some comparisons, and I am favouring the idea of replacing the heater core rather than using an external heater (outlander, for examp...

Re: Tesla-Powered Porsche 911 996
I've chosen to go with the ubiquitous stelantis 50kwh pack. This example came from a Citroen ec4. I picked it up for £1100 delivered. The lid is glued down so its a right pain to open. Ive started mocking up the rear box, containing 12 of the 18 modules. The rear will also house the HVJB and charger...

Re: Tesla-Powered Porsche 911 996
So I've been working mainly on my RX8 project but haven't forgotten the Porsche. I've been focusing on trying to design a frame which will require no body modifications. Here's what I've come up with. Two parallel lengths of 60*30*5mm angle mounted on both subframe bolts and the rear hanging from wh...

Re: Tesla-Powered Porsche 911 996
Well it's going to fit. There's no replacement for doing it for real so i got a friend to help test fit and plan some mounting strategies. There isn't a huge amount of space but there's enough, and plenty of options for mounting.

Lexus Rx450h MGRs for sale
Hi All, I have three Lexus MGRs for sale from the Rx450h. I had planned a MINI conversion but that didn't pan out and I need to clear some space. Would anyone be interested in them? I've also got a pair of drive shafts (cut mid-way) to include with one of them. They are in various states of cosmetic...

Fair play. I got the wheels spinning on my project for the first time in a while yesterday. Your project has been a big inspiration. Keep or up.

Thanks for the advice Tom!
I've organised to buy a known working front motor with the OI board already installed from another project in the classified section. I'll report back when that's test fit in the car

Re: Tesla-Powered Porsche 911 996
In terms of proximity to the sub frame, yes this fouls on the sub frame mounting points left and right, but it can be raised quite a bit. I took a photo of the underneath to illustrate -- the large coolant lines above the current motor location can be moved / removed, allowing it to be raised and ti...

Re: Tesla-Powered Porsche 911 996
Here are some of our efforts in scanning the underside of the car, and some attempts to fit the model 3 rear motor (in its native orientation). Long story short it won't fit without a lot of chassis mods, and there are no solutions which enable it to be run in reverse currently, so out of the questi...
